R60 Looks like the 2014 changes are official on Mini's site
I had a 2005 S hardtop (bought new), a 2008 S conv. (sidewalk), now I have the CMSall4, and I love this car, who cares about what the purists say. It works for a small family, lots of fun to drive, and compared to the last 2, my fillings seem to be staying securely in my teeth. A bit less harsh of a ride. I have loved all 3 for different reasons. And where can I get the DVD in the headrests? xbox also? have a 7-year old in the back seat, would be perfect, c'mon mini suv this thing up.
While I'll admit that I am somewhat of a purist, I'll also admit that MINI needed to expand to a AWD and 4 door model at some point if they wanted to reach a larger market.
I bought my 2013 CMS ALL4 and I love it. That being said, I wish I had waited for a Paceman as I prefer 2 doors and if I didn't live in Colorado, I would've just gotten an MCS hatch.
So I guess I'm not as much of a purist... Still, I'm enough of a purist that I am a little miffed with the spyshots of what the new MINI hatch will look like. Many components look like they were plucked right out of a BMW 1 or 3 series. I also don't like the rectangular air vents in the middle and the lack of the center speedo is a complete tragedy. Hopefully, the finished product will have more of the true MINI flavor which has more of an emphasis on style than simplicity. While they might take some getting used to and a good once over from all angles, the outside shots that I have seen have been okay from the back and the sides look okay. The front is very confusing. I'm not so concerned about the design of the grill and the headlights as much as I am about how much it seems to slant. It's almost as though they tried to copy the look of a Porsche nose. Perhaps it's just the angle of the most recent shots I've seen. It does look like they've jumped on board with everyone else in copying the "Audi lights" around the headlamps. I'm okay with that though as I think it looks really cool.
Back on point though... They simplified the interior design with the 2013 Countryman refresh and it looks like they are limiting more of the interior options which makes me feel like it's much less MINI.
