R60 Which R60 All4 exhaust
The Milltek is around $1250 looks like a more complete system than Magnaflow and NM engineering maybe BMWr606 can tell us from the pictures he took if there are a number of connection points, it would seem to me you'd want to keep those to a minimum. It looks like even the tail pipes have "hose clamp" connection
all the connections overlap by about 2 inches or so
the clamps (provided) are very heavy duty stainless steel, i needed a 1/2" drive rachet to tighten them ... they are not hose clamps

the milltek is 4 pieces plus the 2 tailpipes and is 2.5" from the v-band clamp all the way back to the tailpipes

"Hose Clamp " was a poor choice to describe the connections, I wasn't trying to imply a lack of quality. Actually I'm thinking Milltek is the way to go. It would seem to me if the objective is performance then replacing from DP back is the best option, and you say not too loud unless you mash it. My wife is not thrilled with this mod and feels it's childish, a bit like cards in your bicycle spokes, so I'm working the performance/ efficiency angle

steady 70 mph on i-state yields 33-36 mpg
slow down to 55-60 and i see 40+ mpg ... one tank i went 411 miles on 9.8 gals = 41.9 mpg
the power comes on at lower rpm than with the stock system, my car pulls from 2000 rpm like it did at 2800 rpm stock and no loss of power up top

well then ... my overall avg mpg is 28.8 with ~20% city, ~20% interstate and ~60% rural driving

as to the cali smog issue, i can't help you ... i have seen threads mention that certain CAIs have a "carb sticker" but have never seen that said of an exhaust
here in il, the smog test is an OBD read only and the milltek has not set any codes, so i will pass
