Undercarriage Front Air Deflector

Anyone know where to purchase replacement part, both sides!

Would appreciate installation advice

Are there special tools to "pop" plastic retainer plugs off?

Thanks

I just took one of them off on my R57 last night. I too need to order a new one on the passenger side. With mine, I just used a standard screwdriver and popped the top part of the clip up. Then the clip will release.

Have you been to the few vendors' websites to check the part number? Sewell MINI, or Pelican Parts, or Real OEM, or your local dealer, etc?

For the plug/rivet things you can be good with a screw driver to just go to a car parts store or harbor freight and get a kit for body panel removal tools.

This is a good reason to never pull all the way forward or always back in to a parking spot.

I just used a couple of flathead screwdrivers to pry out the center plug. I think they were about $13 at my local dealership.

Thanks and hope that helps.

What is the purpose of this part. I feel like it would just increase drag and lower efficiency of the car but perhaps add some front downforce

Air flow around the wheel or something about built up air pressure in front of the wheel to create less drag, that's my guess. They do allot of wind tunnel testing on these cars and body kits.

+1

51119802644 is the front right and 51119802643 is the front left. They help divert air around the front suspension assembly for more efficient airflow under the vehicle. A lot of different vehicle brands have these items now a day.

Thank you. The question is do you leave them on a racecar

Wind tunnel tested : You can see them poke out right under the JCW Aero kit also.

haha it is a good question! Most of what I see out at the track and on friends race cars, they don't have those. Also, they're extremely low so they would hit a lot of things and they run giant front splitters. This is a pretty good read here about splitters and air dams.

Once you lower the car at all or add front splitter I suspect the aerodynamics of these bits go out the window

I just noticed my left side deflector was broken. Neat that this thread was revived today!

Yep , we have it listed above Not too hard to fit, just a couple of push plugs and that expanding rivet.
