Everyone has their own preference. I prefer a minimalist look, so stripes and flags all over the place and the lettering on the boot definitely don't fit in with my style. I do like however how others can express their creativity with these cars. I do have a Highgate convertible, but the bonnet stripes are quite subtle.

I'm not sure if I'd say the C O U N T R Y M A N lettering on the back is poor
taste... take a look at the Porsche Cayennne or Panamera.

I would use the word "busy" to describe the look...

Personally I think this is a horrible idea and looks cheap...after reading through some of the posts and how some think it's a good idea MINI started "labeling" the models they offer.

If you don't know the model of the vehicle you are purchasing and require a "label" to distinguish between them...please don't buy a MINI

Yet another "typical" NAM response. "Please don't buy a MINI"? Way to welcome those who bought cars with the lettering or who may like it. FWIW - The lettering is not to tell US what model the car is. It's to tell those who don't know MINIs like we do.

We have stripes on our Countryman's boot to break up the huge area of nothingness. If you have stripes, I would remove this lettering. But if you don't, I think it helps fill in some of the nothingness and improves the appearance.

AFAIK, it's not particularly difficult to remove the lettering on the boot. At least it's accurate (unlike people who slap '///M' badges on cars that clearly aren't) and an option to keep for those who like it. Isn't the spirit of Minis to make it your own? Maybe someone will figure out a clever anagram and rearrange the letters to spell something different...

Countryman
Try mount can
My runt anco
My aunt cron
Try a McNoun

The point of the label is for the person that you pass on the road who may be in the market for a new vehicle. As he watches you pass and says "Wow, that's nice, what is that?" as soon as he gets behind you the label will let him know the name of his next car.

I don't know about anyone else here, but I've had my Countryman for almost two weeks now and I've probably had a dozen people ask me what the name of that big Mini with four doors is called again.

Struck a nerve, I get it. It's an opinion. Just as everybody else expressed how they either liked or disliked the lettering.

Is it wrong to think you should know what you are purchasing before you do so? Once again, just my personal opinion.

This is good and bad about social media...you can express how you feel, just make sure everybody else agrees with it before you do so.

Interesting, when test driving at my dealership, none of the CM's had the lettering on the back. I'm going to have to ask now if they removed them all or ordered them without... Either way, I'd like mine to arrive sans badging, reminds me of the lettering on the grill of a Hummer (barf).

Tramped stamp ones have only been arriving for less than a month. On the lot my dealer only had 3 out of 12 with the logo and two of those came in on the truck with mine.

Or, on the back of yours, we could put C-L-U-E-L-E-S-S (rolls eyes). This is NOT about everyone agreeing with someone's opinion. It's about the tone that was used in the response.

As stated above, the lettering is for OTHER people to know what the car is, not for the owners of the car. As far as being able to "know what you are urchasing before you do so", I would guess that most people who go to a MINI dealership and test drive a Countryman already know what it is.

Now your being rude. It's his opinion and that's the end of it! We don't live in a police state just yet, so. Please stop trying to take that role.

The tone...I said "please". I suppose your insult "CLUELESS" is acceptable then. I do know that the Countryman is the only MINI not produced in the UK. It was built in Austria, engine built in France and the transmission built in Germany. I also know the Clubman or R55 was originally going to be released with the R53 body instead of the R56 or newer body style, hence the R55. I also know that MINI acquired the numbering system for the models of cars from BMW. Every model or concept MINI dreams of gets a number. What, we're up to R61 now...be an enthusiast not just a driver of MINI. Maybe all of this is common knowledge, but I'm clearly not "clueless".

You mean the lettering on the back? Yeah, the more pics I see of it, the more I think I'll leave it on...despite some here that think I need it on to know what the name of the vehicle is I am driving.

Post pics of your new ride! I'd like to see it.

I so like that colour, it's quite regal I did hear that for some reason it scratches easily, so take extra care.
