R60 Exhaust Pipes Turn Black

So now that we've solved the black exhaust pipe dilemma. :-)

Lights came back. (Low power and emission)

Took in for servicing they are replacing thermostat and some type of heat sensor.

It always surprises me when I read this stuff. An engine is internal combustion. Combustion = fire. Fire = smoke. Smoke = soot, which leads to black deposits on the exhaust tip(s). All cars have this in varying degrees.

the correct statement is "all cars have this since the introduction of unleaded fuel and catalytic converters"

before them, the lead oxide in the exhaust would make the tips light gray or light tan in a healthy engine

small piston engine aircraft still use leaded fuel and still have light gray/light tan exhaust pipes
