R60 Squeaky Steering Column? Anybody else?
Squeaky Steering Column? Anybody else?
Recently everytime I turn my steering wheel my steering column makes a squeaky sound as if something was rubbing together. It happens more when the car is not warmed up and when I have to turn the wheel a lot ex: getting out of a parking space. Is anyone else experiencing this?
Yup, mine started doing that. Took it to the dealership and they fixed it under warranty. I am at work right now, but when I get home I will post an image of the work order. They had to replace a part in the stering column...
Same thing, i misdiagnosed the creaky groaning sound as just rubbing trim. When in for the scheduled oil change they ended up replacing the upper part of the steering column. No hemming or hawing- under warranty. Mine is a 2012 april build countryman S, standard, no options.
Sorry it took so long:
Image one was from the first dealership where I bought the vehicle, I was taking it in for the temp sensor notice. They wanted to keep the car for at least a week, and said it could take longer depending stock of part. They wouldn't let me take the loaner for that long, so I had no choice but to leave.
Image two was from a different dealership that fixed it within two days and had no issues letting me keep the loaner as long as I needed.
