You won't confuse that for another Countryman! |
How have you guys been doing the "4"? I can't seem to make a good vinyl cutout of it..

Thanks for all the positive comments, all! |
wow man that looks amazing, wish I did that first haha

The car looks fantastic! You're choices are spot-on, and the fact that you didn't over-do it really adds to how nice the whole package is.
Is it all vinyl, including the headlight/tail light/beltline trim? Again, just a great looking Countryman! |
Thanks, Leader...I like to be different, and although it would have been easier and cheaper to go with the more typical red that many do, I wanted orange, mostly because it's a color I happen to like, and of course, to be different. I didn't want to go overboard with the orange, which is why there are only a few subtle accents of orange around. I was originally planning to do a solid matte or gloss black stripe, but when I was by the vinyl installer, he suggested the black carbon fiber look, so I said why not. I originally was planning on wrapping the headlight and tail light chrome in white, but couldn't find a white vinyl to match the light white color close enough. They suggested gloss black, and I went with their advice. I didn't want it to look like the lights have a black eye, so to speak, but it definitely doesn't look bad like I thought it would. The orange doesn't match the factory mirror caps/scuttle surround 100%, it's maybe a shade off, but not so easy to tell because the orange vinyl isn't close enough to the OE parts to notice.
Here's a comparison between the two orange color swatches I had to choose from. I went with the Gloss Burnt Orange: https://farm9.staticflickr.com/8465/...0092a5cb_c.jpg The images above were photoshopped to make the car and colors pop, but it looks like the mirror caps got a little washed out. It definitely looks closer in color in an unedited pic. I'll take a pic and post in in a bit to show more actual colors.. Here's a few more shots before/during the install: https://sphotos-b.xx.fbcdn.net/hphot...97813810_n.jpg https://sphotos-a.xx.fbcdn.net/hphot...90980723_n.jpg https://sphotos-a.xx.fbcdn.net/hphot...85515886_n.png |
Unedited actual pics:
https://farm9.staticflickr.com/8329/...5fbe92cb_b.jpg https://farm9.staticflickr.com/8047/...6b917a14_b.jpg https://farm9.staticflickr.com/8331/...c5a32c5a_b.jpg https://farm9.staticflickr.com/8194/...c60392b7_b.jpg https://farm9.staticflickr.com/8050/...0a817001_b.jpg The original plan was to wrap the head light chrome trim along with the head light washer cover, but he forgot to do it. He told me I can bring it back any time to have it wrapped too, but I think it meshes well with the chrome inside the headlight around the low beam, so i'll most probably leave it this way. I also noticed the driver's side rear door trim doesn't look all so straight. I did notice it when I picked up the car and said something to them, but it was hard to see because of where the car was parked when I picked it up to walk around it, plus the curves of the door play games with your eyes. He said I can come back anytime to fix or adjust anything I don't like. The more I look at that door, the more it seems a little off to me.. |
That orange looks great

Where is this vinyl place located?

https://www.facebook.com/PHENOMenalVinyl?ref=ts&fref=ts Nothing is pre-cut, everything is cut while on the car. They don't use any blades against the paint. The thin green stripes you see on the hood in one of the pics above during the install process, those are lined up, with the vinyl applied over it. The green stripe acts as a blade and cuts the vinyl as they raise it off the paint and remove it. |
Love it! Unusual and very eye catching.

That's awesome!!!! Wow!
I totally want to copy that lol. |

In any event, a minor (and easily resolved) blemish on what is a really great concept and execution. I really like what you did with the car. Looks fantastic, Shoof. Nicely done! Sorry if I missed it: Where did you get the orange inserts for the scuttles? |
This is exactly The colors I want. So they put vinyl on the brake ducts? I was gonna go to a body shop n get the mirror corvers and brake ducts painted but your vinyl looks good.

I noticed that, too. Should be an easy fix, but your eyes are not lying to you.

looks good Eddie. I just sent over a R53 Fuel Pump to these guys today, their ship was ruined during Sandy :( the dyno, Twin Turbo Z's, etc. like 3+ft of salt water. Horrible.
they are trying to recover now & are still w/o power. |
