what are people paying for new 2012 countryman

Hi All,
I saw on this thread that the mini dealership in Morristown NJ had an advertisement for $2,000 off new Mini Countryman. I went to another dealership in NJ today, and they gave me $1500 off.

I was just wondering what people paid for their new countryman, and if I should go back, and try and get more off on the car. Has anyone gone to Morristown and actually gotten $2,000 off their car?

Thanks in advance.

This is my 4th mini, but the first countryman. The mini I am trading in was a late year model(2010) when the 2011 were coming out, and I got $5,000 off that car, as there were very few left. I know the new countryman are not coming out until later then the other models, so I know I won't get that great a savings, but just want to get the best deal I can.

Thanks

We were able to negotiate a bit more than $2000 off MSRP from Mini of Monmouth for a fairly well optioned custom order (MSRP $35,000), although this was several months ago, plus we were able to get the $750 factory incentive Mini was offering at that time. But we did agree to pay the $299 documentary fee, which of course is pure dealer profit.

Mini of Morristown quoted $750 off list, and when we told them we wanted $2000 off we never even heard back from them. Got the feeling they thought we would pay whatever they said because the next closest dealer was much further away. Their offer that I posted about the other day was only for in stock CM's, and if I recall correctly it was only good through this past Saturday.

My guess is Mini of Monmouth agreed to the discount because they probably assumed we would not travel that far unless they agreed to an aggressive price.

thanks for the reply. The car I am interested in is a car they have on their lot, and it goes for around 33,500 sticker. I feel that given what you got off for a car you are ordering(am I correct in assuming this), I could perhaps get a little better deal.
Like you said, I think it depends on how much they want to sell the car.

Thanks

$3500 off our 2012 Countryman S. They ignored the tax credit from our lease we traded in to them, so if you add that in, it's more like $5k off. But they really wanted to get us into a car. Very helpful and friendly dealership in Mass.

I got $2,200 off the $29,900 MSRP, includes Sport Package, Auto Transmission, Black Headlight, Blutooth and Center Arm-rest. They also included the roof rack for free.

Lucy, I forgot to mention that we did not trade in a car.

Can you explain further on the Tax credit on a returning lease?

i got mine from morristown and i got over 2k off. i also bundled in some aftermarket accessories into it so it wasn't "true" savings. so far morristown has been great to deal with.

I got over 10% off MSRP which included the $750 rebate. Plus, since I ordered my car at end of 2011 but didn't take delivery till beginning of January I was able to get 0.9% financing for 3 years. I was able to get the best deal by getting a quote from one dealership and letting the other beat them.

Sure. Basically at least in Mass you pay taxes on a car if you finance it. If you trade in the car prior to the term end, you get a credit based on the tax you've financed since you won't be paying it. Leases dont have that tax credit. When they were working on the deal for us they were figuring in that tax credit then remembered it was a lease but forgave the roughly $1500 they neglected to add in to honor the original agreement. Basically it was a good faith move on their part.

I've got a 44k$ spec'ed in Canada. Total discounts came to just under $3700, and they threw in free winter mats too. Seemed ok, mine was a custom order.
