In theory, lower the car the less air drag. Since lowering my car with KW Coilovers, I just made a road trip from Portland to Vancouver BC and I got 436 miles to the tank, before empty. How many miles per tank do other members get on their Countryman S All4?

Looks like by lowering the CMS4 you get way better mileage too

 

Less foot in the gas from being concerned about scraping could cause better MPG.

 

I rarely make it over 300.

 

my best tank so far was 411 miles on 9.8 us gallons of fuel

it was all interstate, all on cruise

My best to date was 320 miles at a 10.4 gallon fill up.

 

you guys are crazy. if i make it to 315, im at 0 candy corns and its flashing red lights at me.

 

I don't see the logic of measuring just mileage of 'tanks' of fuel. The miles per tank is partly dependent on how close to running out of gas the driver goes. I rarely let my tank get below the 1/4 mark.

 

I too would be concerned that the first parking space stop or curb scrape would negate any possible mileage benefit.

 

Just lowered my car with NM springs and there is a big change in the way it drives and handles. Befor lowering springs the back end of car would dip severely when cornering and going over pot holes or road bumps. Almost getting out of control. Now car handles a lot better and we will see about the gas mileage in the future.

But I drive fast and so not really concerned about gas mileage as it is not my daily driver.

The NM lowering spings lower the car and so far no scrapes, and besides u can just take the dip at an angel. Coil overs allow u to adjust the height of the car as u want. Much lower then fixed springs

 

I haven't scrape once yet FYI no scratch on the JCW lips, only scraping the little plastic splash guard, which is cheap to replace

 

hmm interesting, it seems others aren't getting higher then 400 miles per tank.

on Cruise the whole trip at 79mph I got 380miles with 56miles remaining on tank and I went to filled up.

 

when i went 411 miles on 9.8 gals, the OBC was showing 104 miles to empty, 515 total range

This car is ironic. I drive like a madman around town and yet I still get 27mpg.

 

57 mph on the speedo, 55 actual via my aviation gps (12 satelite tracking, 0.1 mph accuracy)

it was a work trip to meet a guy and swap some aircraft parts, about 200 miles on the interstate out, stop in a park and ride near the off ramp, back on the intersate, about 200 back, cruise on the whole time

i gassed up at the station nearest the on/off ramp

i did a similar run at 65 mph of just over 200 miles (100 out and back) and got a little over 38 mpg, i think it was 38.2 mpg

i use only toptier premium fuel and most (75%+) of the time containing no ethanol

both of these trips were with no ethanol fuel

my overall is 32.2 mpg since new

lowest was 18 mpg, but a whole lot of fun

i did the breakin very agressively, as the mechanics recommended, not easy like the sales staff recommended, although i did stay below 4,500 rpm for 1200 miles (109 mph)

lowered mine with Eibach Pro Kit, seems to get a little better on FC, and alot better on handling.

Just curious is your Countryman, ALL 4? if so with or without Sports Package? I am interested on some feedback on using the NM springs on a CMS ALL 4 with the Sports Package, thanks!

 

I have a all4 and I do feel much comfort using the Eibach than the stock spring. The Eibach feels more comfy and less bodyroll on corners. I dont not have to stop and roll over humps as CMS has very good clearance than my R56.

DR61, great point! Just reviewed my build order and I only have the sports package and not the sport suspension as I previously thought. I did compare vehicle height with a Countryman S, not ALL 4 and with my ALL4 with the 18' wheels and mine sat about an inch lower.. I believe that the NM springs take it down 1 1/2 inches more.

 

And why in the world would anyone lower an all wheel drive vehicle anyway ? So they can see how much under stuff the two track on the way to the lodge can collect ? I think the all 4 is higher than the others, about 5 inches and its for a reason.. Maybe some of you guys could put hydraulics on your ride, now wouldn't that be way cool ! ( To quote Mily Cyrus )
