Oh yah! My justification is its washable and reusable so in the long run it's a cost savings. Also it really does help air flow.

Long story short, I'm going to pick up the car with just the oil change done, will put the OEM airbox back in, and take it back next week.
VIP CAI came off on Friday and OE air box is back on. Missing the "whooshhhh" sound. Decided to take out the turbo heat shield as well since it was mentioned on the paperwork as being an impediment to completing the temp sensor recall. Took longer to look for the Allen wrench than to take the two little bolts off. I hope the tech is happy when I see him on Tuesday.

I wonder what they'll say about my non OEM winter wheel and tire setup. Kidding, just being evil

Finally ran all the power requirements for my GPS and rear view camera. The camera and test comes tomorrow. I hope to be successful. If anyone knows how to run wires from the dash, down the interior firewall to the fuse box, please speak up. Spent a couple hours trying to figure that out today with no luck. Ended up running them across the front passenger side then down the door frame and into the fuse box that way. Nit as clean as I would have liked, but I will work on cleaning them up tomorrow. Obviously open to ideas.

I powered my GPS from the factory cig lighter. Very easy to get to and hide the wires. I had to use a relay for my back-up camera. Does your camera work okay without?

I haven't put the camera in yet. It is a wireless setup, so I'm interested to see how it works. What type is yours and why the relay? Did you do the install?

I used a wired camera. TIP: Use the reverse signal from the passanger side tail light. If you get a bad reverse video (horiz. lines) then you have the same situation I had, you need a 12v relay.

I can sketch up what you need to do with the relay so no worries.. It is very easy to do.

Cheers

That would be great. I will let you know what I find once I get it all hooked up. Could you tell me which wires to tap for the reverse signal and how you breached from the bumper to the inside of the car? That was step one and two for this morning.

THANKS!!!

Had the coolant temp sensor recall done after taking off the VIP CAI and heat shield off. Also had the cosmoline damaged exterior trim replaced.

Hoping I don't have to go back to the dealer for 13k miles.
