Finally snoooowww in indy, rally time
Finally we got enough snow that i could go out and try my all4. it was interesting how the all wheel drive works, since i have never had it before. There is a little neighborhood by where i live that has only two homes built for looks so there is a nice little rally course, so did alittle rally around there and it is different then having a front wheel or a 4wheel drive truck. It does take off really fast with no slippage inless you take off the limited slippage
but it does push you out when going around the corners but just have to give it some gas to get it to slip around the corner, tried not to use the e-break alot but used it a couple of times when doing some dounts lol. But over all i like it and now i have a rally car with all wheel drive.

tmehanna, the answer was sufficient. I was curious whether he had a dedicated snow tires or not. In this case, he was on All-Season tires.
Coz, mine came with Bridgestone Dullers H/P RFT and so far so good on wet surface as well as on temp at or around low 30s. that's all..
Yeah we had about inch and a half of ice and snow up north, yeah b-town has some curves.
I think he meant to ask whether you have the goodyears, pirellis or bridgestones
I have the pirellis that came from the factory.

I know what u mean. Mine felt like that too and had to plug the right rear the other day and the shop suggested that to set the press at 40ft/lbs. So, they're at 40ft/lbs right now and so far so good. Mind u, it's has been around the low 30s here in the DC area and I can imagine these would be really ride hard in the warmer months. so, we'll see...
I'm between Indy and Bloomington, in Johnson County. On Friday night we suddenly had freezing rain start on my way home from taking my daughter to a friend's house, and everything was quickly coated with clear, hard ice.
I was very impressed by my All4 on ice (with Michelin Primacy Alpin PA3 winter tires). It tracked straight and stopped short when braking and there was no lateral sliding on the corners.
The All4 is far better than my Suburu Forester under equivalent conditions. It's not just the tires...it feels much better balanced.

Not sure about the All4 AWD in the countryman (with all the electronics controlling the AWD system), but in the Subie with a mechanical center diff, pulling the e-brake is a no-no. Transmissions go BOOM, since effectively, it is telling the system that the rear has more grip than the fronts, and it tries to send more power to the rear.
Just use power over-steer or a Scandinavian flick
Have fun with it.

I expected the Pirelli's but I ended up with Continental all season 17 inchers on my All4. Personally I like Conti's better than Pirellis so no complaint. Anyone else have Continentals?
Just drove 70 miles in a snow storm and all went great. The Conti's actually provide pretty good traction. There was a lot of traffic so I did not get a chance to really play, but if the All4 system kicked in at all it was totally seamless.

I have the Sport package so it came with the new Goodyear RFTs. They seem to be slightly quieter than the RFTs on my 2 Cabrios. I intend to replace them for the winter with a 17" package from Tire Rack with Bridgestone WS70s. I have the WS60s on my Legacy GT and the car is unstoppable in snow and I am very pleased with how it handles and stops on packed snow and ice.
