R60 Official Surf Blue Owners Club
I have never been this excited before about a car. To the point where I am actually thrilled for you MINIMouse--and we have never met! My baby was already on order by the dealership--so I am awaiting word of shipping. I have no production number. I think my "motoring advisor" is toying with me! LOL
Nice CM, maerror! When did you get him?!
Most def a support group! Can't wait!

The whole order process is mystifying to me. Looking at the dates of various members online, there seems to be no rhyme or reason to why car A is in production faster than car B ordered on the same (or close to the same)day. In a few cases (like MiniMe vs my mini) a car is ordered a week after another, and is in production a week sooner....And no one seems to be able to answer why it is so.
Yeah, I've been looking at dates and stuff too and I don't get it either. I mean according to a lot of people on here it's taken two months or more to get their car and my husband is over here telling me that we might have mine before the month is up, but I really don't see that happening. Obviously, if it does I'm going to be thrilled, but I just can't let myself believe that until it happens.
It may not be much to calm your anguish, but . . . Each dealership has an allotment of cars per month on order. Bigger dealerships, bigger allotments. These are, apparently, based on location demographics. If you place an order and the dealer still has cars available in the allotment, they can grab one and modify it. Thats why when you check your order, you may see your blue car with leather show up as gray with vinyl - that's what it originally was. On the flip side, if they have no more cars in their allotment, you have to wait for the next months allotment to grab a car. Also, you have to realize that even with everything computerized, it ain't perfect. Frequently, your car will be down the line and the update may take a day or two to be posted. Shipping is even worse as you are relying on a whole other system. Your car will sit on the dock when it actually loaded and the ship will disappear while it crosses the big pond. Then reappear while it waits to dock.
The way to manage this process is to view the status as entertainment and to make the time pass with other activities. You need to download the owners manual (and memorize it), post on the board a gazillion time fretting over minor details, check the accessories sites and order little things that you are going to need (do you have your bumper protector on order?), and generally drive your friends crazy with updates.
Sealy - Who's final advice is to be patient, it's worth it. Except you got the wrong color.

And I'm enjoying the ride!
Question for you guys. Did Surf Blue get darker between 2011 and 2012?
I'll post a pick of my car in the daytime but I think that the color changed slightly, what do you guys think?

Well in this picture it looks like Cosmic Blue not Surf Blue
Thanks for your input!
Beautiful otherwise!
yes, it definitely changes. The one above at night is surf as well, you wouldn't even be able to see it was blue if it was cosmic. It'll look black until a decent amount of light is on it
