I think that's gonna be the hardest part! Not racing it like a go-cart for 1200 miles.

Very cool. You should enter it in the calendar photo contest at the end of the year.

Sport Stripes- White or Black

So I am close to finalizing my order-
finally picked pure red after all the fear of the orange color the dealer gave me-
and I want the Sport Stripes over the standard bonnet stripes-

I have the black roof- so I was set on black stripes- though browsing on here I see the that the white look nice on the black roof, and actually extend to the roof?

Is that standard for sport stripe?

Might have to change my mind- and the side stripes as well looked nice in white, even with the black roof and wheels.

And how do you black out the band behind the bonnet that the sidemarkers are on? Newbie question I guess!

I assume you're talking about my car

I really like the way everything turned out and wouldn't change my stripes if I could do it over again. Deciding on stripes was probably the toughest decision for me, though you don't have to decide now if you're ordering. The stripes are generally put on by your dealer, which means you don't have to decide until your car is almost here. You'll have a month or two to decide, change your mind, change your mind again, etc. The only downside to white stripes is that they show dirt on the boot (much like a white car does). They're hard to get perfectly clean, but I don't dwell on it--too much motoring to do!

Sunroof considerations: if you're getting a sunroof, you'll have to decide whether you want the roof stripe to go over the sunroof or not. I've seen it both ways. If it goes across the sunroof, it will block out some light in the cabin. If it doesn't go across the sunroof, it breaks up the lines which may or may not bother you. If you have no sunroof (like me), it's seamless which is nice.

Ordering stripes: when I ordered mine, I had to specify bonnet, roof, side, and boot stripes. You can get a different color for each, though the dealer only has black, white, and Chili Red as far as I know. If you order somewhere other than the dealer, you have a lot more options. You could go with a black stripe on the bonnet and a Pure Red stripe on the roof to create a color inversion effect. Or you could get all white like me, which is clearly the best choice

Side scuttle color: this one depends on a couple of variables. If you're ordering the "Justa" Cooper, your side scuttles will be a light silver, like on MSPRO's car. If you're ordering an S, they will be anthracite like mine. On either model, the exterior chrome package will override that and they will be chrome, like on Sealy's car.

Yep Chrunk, yours is the one I was looking at!

So I am getting an All 4, so it would be the darker one as an S. Looks darker on these pictures then the S in the shoowroom.

And it will have the sunroof, so will need to think about the roof stripes.

De-yolking the blinkers- pretty easy to do youself, or worth the 100 to let the dealer do it?

Can you order a Pure Red Stripe on the top? I knew you could get red but assumed it would be the JCW red color, not Pure Red.
I think if you can get True Red i might have to try it! Any pictures out there like that?

You can't order it from the dealer. You'd have to try to match the color at a third party tint/stripe shop.

I did mine a couple of weeks ago. I still need to have the dealer look at my beltline trim because the new one doesn't fit right. So I didn't black that or the door handles out just yet, just the grill, head/tail light rings and the side scuttles.

What did you use to black out the trim?

I did it with Plastidip. I didn't know if I would like it, so I used it as I can peel it off without hurting it underneath if I did't. I actually like it so I might paint them later for a more permanent option.

Nicely done, Kurt. How did you blackout the badges? It even looks like you blacked out the "Cooper S" badge. Do tell!
