Sorry to hear about the accident. Glad you are fine. That photo makes it look live a very costly repair . . . I would actually rather get it totalled and get a new one.
wow you did get smacked! glad the car protected you, amazing that it ran afterward! rest up and here's hoping for a swift and equitable settlement to get you motoring again!
Wow. Just good to hear you are ok. And heed the advice around getting compensated from the insurance company. Get everything you can if they don't total the car.

Me too, though there would be quite a wait at this point to get in line to order one. If I could get compensated for a rental/loaner for the three months I was waiting, I'd probably go for the total.
Well, Fenton passed his exam and will be restored to pristine condition, total time two weeks from today (8/23)! (We'll see about that schedule.) The repair cost is actually fairly reasonable - and nowhere near a threshold that would enable the option of totaling it. The repair center says it's not the core elements that are pranged. Amazing, since Fenton (and I) took a Hell of a shot.
I've emphasized that I want the geometry of the body checked after they take the broken bits off so I know if I'll end up driving in some peculiar attitude from now on. Some would say that'd be an even better match ;-)
We're also considering converting his black toupee to a white top with white bonnet stripes, while we're at it. We'll leave the black mirrors. Everything else is just fine as it is.
Glad to hear you were OK George. Fenton did a great job!
Thanks, Aaron. I was impressed by the substantial, strong feel of the CM4 from the first drive - now even more so after getting a corner carved off of it.

Very assuring for sure! Wishing for Fenton's fast recovery!
Yes, Fenton will come out of this newer, stronger, more handsome with a white roof and white bonnet stripes. (Keeping the black mirrors and anthracite wheels.) Thanks to all those who have posted MINI CM photos to help with the decision.

I have light coffee with white top and white bonnet stripes. Had to go white top here in Arizona.
Here's an irony....live in Texas.....I have a white car with a black roof. White reflects heat/sun while black absorbs it! No issues to date either way....

Update from the scene of the disassembly - the damage is more extensive than originally estimated and more parts are required. Finish date estimate is pushed out two weeks.
Repair cost has gone from reasonable to awesome, but still apparently below "total" threshold.

Update - the original two-week repair completion date of 8/23 was celebrated by my getting a call saying the additional parts are on order and a new estimate of completion is 9/8.
Apparently the shop was in a holding pattern on all parts ordering until the final list of parts needed was approved by the insurance company, just in case it was decided to total the car.
Update - I was supposed to pick up my restored CM4 tomorrow, but News today from the MINI hospital is that parts from "BMW" in Europe won't reach the shop until 9/13, so that the repair isn't expected to be completed until the end of next week, 9/16. Latest replacement rental car an HHR - kinda, sorta looks like a CM.
...Standing by...
Update - it's approaching 5 weeks since my 8/7 accident, and the repair shop (associated with the nearest dealer to the collision point) has no idea when they'll be able to return my CM4. They're waiting on a half-shaft for the right-front that has to come from Germany. While they said earlier they expected it today, they haven't been able to get an actual ship date from MINI/BMW.
