I'd definitely take the CM over the X1 looking at those pics..... They seem the same size and the CM has a little more personality...

Looks like the CM has a higher ground clearance than the X1 -
Is that correct or just visual ?

Your CM: What would you do different?

I would buy one off the lot. The waiting game gets old, stressful, and frustrating.

I would have ordered my countryman 8 weeks ago when I decided to get it. I'd have had it now instead of having ordered yesterday.

Maybe. But now, at least, you qualify for a $750 rebate. That's not chump change!

Having been through the waiting game, I for one, plan to stick with special ordering exactly what I want from now on. I'm done with compromising on such a large purchase and ending up with whatever the dealer thought was a safe color with options that would sell it quickly.

In regard to this thread, I'll be honest, my countryman isn't EXACTLY what I wanted, but pretty darn close. Now that MINI Connected seems to be fully functional and it's being opened up to third party apps, I REALLY wish I had ordered that option. Still thrilled with my countryman nonetheless.

Would probably select a different color from the white with black top, striping and wheels. I did get the premium sound which sounds fantastic!

Can you elaborate on what this means? thanks.

How so? I'm going back and forth with this too and would love to hear your thoughts.

The Cooper SD hadn't been launched when I ordered my Cooper D, so I'd order everything I have now but with the SD motor and the flat load floor.

17 vs 18 inch tires purely for replacement price and selection.

For those that replaced their run flat tires: what other brands/models do recommend for a smoother ride - and also what's your "flat" solution? Drive around with a can of fix-a-flat?

What's this rebate you speak of?

My R56 was pretty loaded. My R60 is more modestly equipped.
I bought both MINIs off the lot, so I didn't have the chance to configure either car.
Now, having had one MINI with almost everything, and going into one less equipped, here's what I miss:
Xenon Headlights - I swapped to brigher halogen bulbs on the CMS, but you can't beat Xenons. (I'm not a fan of adaptives, though.)
Comfort Access - I miss not having to put the "key" in the dash. It's really convenient to just have the fob in your pocket.
A quick note on Heated Seats - even if you live in a non-Winter climate (like I do in L.A.), headed seats are great for longer drives to keep your back relaxed. I use mine often.
My CMS has Anthracite Wheels - they never look dirty, even when they are. They're not right for every color combo, but on the lighter cars, I think the anthracite wheels look great.
I replaced the run-flats on my R56 and really improved the ride. My Countryman S came with 17" run flats, which I figured I'd replace, too. But after the first 1000 miles, I think the Countryman ride is just fine, even with the run-flats. I'm sure the increased ride height has a lot to do with it.
Overall, the R60 is a much improved car over my R56.

I'm very happy with my Michelin Primacy Alpin PA3 winter tires in terms of noise and comfort...and that's compared with my Eagle rfts, probably one of the better runflats. And I carry the Slime+inflator kit.
As far as other changes, I'm the second owner of my '11 All4 and love the way it's configured. I think it's silly, though, that the adaptive feature wasn't standard with the xenons, so the dealers who received Sport Package cars typically didn't get that exorbitant $100 option!

Purchased my R60 "off the lot," but, had I been able to configure it, I would have added Xenons and Comfort Access.
Those are the two things I miss from my R56.

I would order the garage door opener. I went cheap cuz at $600 when you consider the mandatory auto dim and compass (neither of which I want or need), I felt it was a rip off. If it were my only car I would also have added leather but I often have my dogs riding in the CM so the leatherette is the best material. It's only been three weeks, but I'm pretty happy with the car.

I would have gotten the black headlight housings. I saw them on a red/black cms and thought they looked nice. I wanted them but they were not available when I ordered my car. That and maybe the Nav/connect system. I was trying to keep the cost down but think I might have enjoyed this tech now that it seems to be working more reliably for other owners.
