Same thing for me with the iPhone 4s.

Also - could not get mini connected working.

 

"Office" still only showing contacts. Guess the needed upgrade has to come from Mini for emails, calender, appointments etc.
Also wanted to see if Office did its thing on the I pad..
Did do everything the I phone 4 did.....except for the message "not charging"
Any other I pad users notice that message?

 

Anyone having an issue with the plugin feature in iOS5? I can access the iPod menu system, but it when I select music, it gives me a blank screen. Can't get it to play through the USB multimedia menu either. The only way that it works for me is if I pick up the phone and select the music I want. Knid of defeats the purpose of integration.

All is fine here….then again most of it was fine prior to the release.
(I'm a pre-march build) The only thing I noticed different, is that the IPad (1) won't charge using the connected Y cable. Specifically states "not charging"

 

That's all working fine for me, though there's a high pitched buzz if I pick the plugin feature.

The only problem I'm having is that now that I've switched to USB and have to pick tracks through Connected (which is the point), I can't seem to pause without turning off Mission Control, and I also don't seem to have any control over where I am in a track, so I can't go reverse or fast forwards. I can just go back to the beginning of the track or to the next track. Maybe I'm just missing something.

 

@flyer53 - I've got a pre March build, and everything worked like a charm before I upgraded.

@tippykayak - not sure about the high pitched buzzing. As for scanning a track, have you tried holding in the skip track button on the steering wheel? That's how I've been able to do it.

 

I have the same Pandora issue. I wrote to their customer support and when they respond, I'll pass on their information. I've used them before and they are very responsive. My bet is that Pandora is going to need a software update to deal with the new operating system.

 

It sounds almost like an incomplete connection, so perhaps I just need to make sure it's properly seated.

And thanks for the steering wheel tip. I'll give it a try.

 

The plugin feature works fine on my 2012 CM and the iPhone 4 with iOS5. Once in awhile if I don't have the Y-cable seated in the MINI jacks, I get some weird stuff happening. But if the cables are seated good and tight it works great.

 

Has anyone tried an iPhone 3Gs (with iOS5) and the Y-cable?

Inquiring (cheapskate) minds want to know...

 

I'd like to point out the audio sounds significantly better when the iphone is in the cradle, when using the Y connector the sound is muted.

 

Yes, seems to work just fine. No difference between my 3GS and 4S.

 

KiwiRob, which cradle are you using? And are all the features working now with the update?

Is anyone having issues with the voice commands? I used to say "Phonebook" and would get the list from the phone. Then I could say a name, etc.

Now when I say "Phonebook", I get an error of some sort (can't remember off the top of my head right now) since upgrading to iOS5.

In my '08 Clubman, you could say "Dial Name" or "Dial Number", but those don't work in the Countryman with iOS5 either.

Help!!

 

It's the full function cradle, I don't have connected, the main thing for me is that it sounds better.

 

Looks like the new commands are:

1) "Telephone"
2) "Choose Name"

Anyone else find either similar issues or new commands that are working?

OK you Apple/tech geek guys - I really need some help. They need a "mini-connect for Dummies" manual. I've only had my car for a few days. I've got an iPhone 4s. Give me a clue where to begin. I downloaded the mini connect app. I can get it to read my twitter feed but not the stream I really want (I follow a particular hashtag in HootSuite). Facebook - no luck. Can't seem to tell it which music to play on my iphone. Don't see the album art. And now I seem to be getting feedback. We have the HK stereo. Much appreciated!

 

Send to Car is working OK for me.

Update on my earlier post - the "phonebook" command is now working again. I think it was more a confusion with the various address books, now that iCloud is in play as well. It all sorted now, and seems to working better.

One little thing I've noticed, before iOS5 the first time I would use the FF or REW button on the steering wheel would never register. It's almost like the system had to be primed, and then would respond on the second press of the button.

Now with iOS5, the response is not only on the first press, but more instantaneous...

I don't know if anyone's gotten an update from Pandora?
I haven't, but I managed to use it in the car today anyway, no issues.

 

We tried Pandora today and it worked fine. I could even create new channels! We figured out most of the apps - facebook, twitter, (neither of which I'll ever use), the phone book, ipod, nav - all working fine. So how on earth do you put your phone into the armrest? Do I need an adapter? I've got a 3GS. What is the purpose, anyway? We've been using the Y cable. I read somewhere in these threads that the Minimizer only works through the armrest. Can anyone enlighten me? Or point me to the answer if it's already here.

And sorry if this is obvious but I am missing something - how does one put a pix of my mini in my sig?

 

For the armrest, you need a cradle which is specific to your phone and will run you around $250-300. If you ever get a new phone, you have to get a new cradle to use with it.

Apparently if you have iOS 5, everything now works fine (including Minimizer and Mission Control) through the Y-cable. However, if you have iOS 5, you may have trouble with Pandora. Not sure if/when that has been/will be resolved.

As far as the sig, go to User CP in the menu bar above. You can edit your sig and add pics to it in there.

 

I have an iPhone 4 with iOS5. Pandora does not work. It says that it could not establish a connection with the MINI. I got an email response back from Pandora a couple of weeks ago that says they are aware of the problem and are working on a solution. Unfortunately they did not give any time frame for that solution.
