boot cover ideas for CM?

Hi. While anxiously waiting for my CM to wend its way to Ca I was wondering how best to cover the load flat boot with rear seats folded. My wife is into plants and occasionally smelly fertilizer.

My current idea is getting a black shower curtain, which is large enough to cover the area and yet easily folded and stowed. Of course, it won't have a MINI logo but perfection is out of reach.

I also have a section of black vinyl but folding it would be a challenge.

Any interior decorators out there?

Thanks

Theres the $250 double flat load floor, but for now had to be ordered with the build.

Then there are numerous dog covers that protect the floor and sides that would probably be perfect, but as a specialized item probably cost a fair bit (cat owner, never looked into them). Or you could fashion your own pretty easily

MINI sells something meant for dogs that sounds perfect for such protection, I cannot remember what it was called but it covered the whole rear and even up the sides a bit.

When the stock floor is placed over the folded rear seats it does not extend up over the headrests nor does it cover the whole width of the seats. Check out my gallery for a DIY folding floor which is larger. Easy to do and if it folds front to back will fit in the boot but has to be strapped down. If folding side to side will not fit in the boot but will be stable without the straps. For just plants you could just have the plywood and throw an old blanket down under to protect the seats and a sheet of plastic over. I used quilting material and a fabric for the Golden. Also, to get the area flat (more or less) you will have to strap down the seats either over the flat floor or over the headrest bars. There are loops by the seats covered with snap off plastic covers.

You might try a large fabric shop. They usually sell flexible, cloth-backed vinyl in a number of colors. This stuff is sturdier than a shower curtain, doesn't fray, cleans easily and can be rolled-up and stored in the recesses of the CM.

I had an old MGB-GT at one point and cut a section of this stuff to exactly fit the back with the seats folded down. Worked like a charm and, on several occasions, it doubled as a ground cloth while performing "side-of-the-road" repairs.

HERE is some black naugahyde automotive-grade vinyl in 54-inch widths. You may not need something this sturdy (and pricey), but you get the idea...

Try Poochstyle.com. Might have something you are looking for. Highly recommended.

Here's a link to the boot protector MINI sells, it's quite expensive but should definitely get the job done.

Thanks everyone. I'll probably go the route of checking fabric shops. I already have a long section of vinyl, designed to protect a deck from a grill, thanks to Costco for ~$17, but I think fabric would be more foldable. All of this to stop thinking about when the MINI actually gets here. ETA currently 7/16

I've got two dogs and a spankin' new Countryman. I have a $1.99 clear shower curtain that tucks very nicely in the recess the floor fits into by the boot. In the front, it tucks on the sides of the folded seats. I also have a 72"x72" ($15) towel that goes over and tucks into the same place. Since the dogs are always going on hikes and runs with me, I change out the towel and wash it fairly frequently.

It doesn't protect up the sides at all, and while it tucks in very neatly in the front and along the boot, there's a little space on the sides where there's a little extra you have to fold over. Still, for $19, it's a lot of protection. Plus, you can buy a couple of towels you like and change them out for a different interior look.
