Long trips

How is the CM on longer trips? Like more than 4 hours. Driver vs passenger comfort? Does anyone have the leatherette and gone on long trips? Is that comfortable vs the leather?

Good question! This is how we will occasionally use our CM4 - it's about 12 hours to the northern relatives, longer to those further east. On multiple test drives we're very encouraged, but our CM4 gets delivered this week.

Everything in DC is a trip, so I've had PO out on a couple of hour-plus jaunts. So far, the only thing I've noticed is some road noise from the 18 inchers. It's easily covered by the big ol stereo. July, I'm making a run to P-burgh and have no qualms. Just get out and go.

Mine was great, I've been on a few long trips, seats are comfy, ride is great (thats even with runflats, no sport suspension though), I have nav. and thats fun to play with. My wife and daughter loved it too, no complaints that it wasn't the allroad (our other car thats great on long trips as well).

I have the leatherette seats, I transferred my seat covers from my 05 to my CM... take a look at http://www.wetokole.com/ I drive a lot in Texas and Louisiana and these seat covers have always kept me comfortable, they are made from a wetsuit like material that keeps you dry and have cutouts for the seat airbags.

The CM seats are pretty much the same as the MCS and I have always been fine on long trips...

I can't speak to the ride quality of the Countryman as I have a Cooper hardtop, but I do have the leatherette seats, and I once drove straight through from Austin TX to Tucson AZ (about 13 hours on the road) and had no complaints about them.

Went five hours up to Dallas last Friday. Put on cruise control, sat radio and motored on at 75. Trip was comfortable and we arrived in good shape to take on the five granddaughters.

Funny thing, I never once even tried the cruise control on my R56 MCS, but I use it on the CM all the time, very different from most cruise controls I've used in other cars, with the +/- buttons.

I've been enjoying my cruise control, particularly on my 200+ mile round trip to see my parents this weekend.

I also like the seats, and I have leatherette too. Voice controls are nice on my commute, and I enjoy the onboard info and trip computer functions on MINI-Connected quite a bit.

The dogs were happy in the back too, so all-around it gets a good grade for a weekend trip.

im 6"2" I love my CM. On long trips over 2 hrs I DO have to change seating angles and distance frequently. My only regret is I think I should have gotten leather. I wish they would offer leather drivers side and leatherette the other 3 seats..lol then I would have spent the 500 bucks. Having said all this and with 6K miles and I love the CM

I know...seems like a lot for the leather, esp. lounge leather. It had better be worth it.

Very comfortable on long trips. AS for the leatherette it seemed hotter than the leather I previously had on my 530. I will be changing that soon. Leather seems to breath better. The leatherette made me sweat more.
