18" Turbo Fans (Anthracite)

Am thinking of getting the Anthracite Turbo Fan rims when I order my CM, anybody have any feedback so far??? Photos, impressions? I haven't actually seen them in person, are they really almost black like they seem in the pictures, or are they more grey? Also, might seem like a stupid question, but is the dark coloring just on the outer surface of the rim, or is the metal dark throughout? Just wondering if the rim gets scratched or nicked, is there going to be an obvious silver mark? Thanks in advance for any info!

I ordered them as well, and while I don't have my car yet, I've seen them on other CMs and I think they're the best looking of the options.

It is a fairly dark color, and the wheel is dark inside the 'barrel' and out. Yes, they're white metal (silver) underneath, so you won't want to rub them on the curb with any regularity, but I'm confident that I will be able to find a similar paint pen or touch up in order to hide any blemishes that may occur.

I can't point you at any particular thread, but there are folks on here who have them, so the pictures are around...

I say get 'em. But I may be biased.

Cheers,
Tad

I have them on my countryman and I think it's the feature that makes it stand out the most. Actually had someone pull up next to me at a traffic light and first complement me on my countryman than went on to tell me how much he liked the rims

We have the 18" anthracite turbofans on our CM. My wife saw them in person at a dealer and loved them so we ordered them. They definitely look more black than grey. They look like a matte black almost. We have had people tell us they really like them too. They are our favorite rims out of all the ones that are available. I think they are awesome rims. Look in the countryman pics thread.

They're very cool. I love the way the screws at the edges contrast with the central portion of the rims.

I have the black versions, which I prefer, and I did bump a curb with them--some silver then showed through.

I feel your pain! I looked everywhere for pics for Anthracite but couldn't find them. Here it is (DISCLAIMER: not Turbo Fan spoke as pointed out below ):

Well, it may not be the Turbo Fan spoke, but I believe the original post and many that followed was about color (how "black" is it). Also, you may want to "correct" an above poster for posting pics of the same wheel as I did. Thank you for your vigilance.

Hi guys!
No worries about the different kinds of rims...I AM looking at the turbo fans, but I do appreciate all posts relating to the "anthracite" color as well! Thanks for your input, I really wish I could find a dealer with the dark turbo fans so I could see them in person!

Haha... I noticed that as well, but the last time I debated someone on here, I got a warning from a mod, and my post deleted, so I kept quiet.

Silvernuke is, however, correct. The images he posted are in fact the anthracite turbofans, (wheel code 2GT + color code 2RR)exactly as I ordered, and the 2-color wheels with the 'screws' around the edge are 2GU (Jet Black) or 2GV (Anthracite). It wasn't worth the additional $500 to me to 'upgrade' from 18s to 18s, especially when I liked the look of the 'fans better. Now show me some HRE or Schnitzer style wheels for another $500... but I digress.

In any case, anthracite/black>silver/chrome for looks as well as cleaning. I chose anthracite because it best approximates the dust emanating from my gravel driveway and road.

Cheers,
Tad

Well, that's the picture this thread has been waiting for, and that is one fine looking wheel. The style reminds me of some of Spyker's unique aeronautical motifs. I'm so glad I ordered them for Sir Stirling!

Looking great, folks!

Cheers,
Tad

Washed our CM last night and one thing I can say is that these rims really hide the brake dust and grime. By just looking at them you wouldn't think they were dirty at all but when I cleaned them a ton of brake dust and dirt came off them.
