Countryman in So California for under MSRP
If you are looking to buy/lease any Countryman model in Southern California - Los Angeles specifically, and were not able to negotiate any deal (Dealers not willing to move a cent from MSRP) send me PM!
I can share my experience for getting Under MSRP on a FACTORY ORDERED car without much haggling and hassles. (They can also locate a car for you for immediate delivery if you wish!)

Im finding the Countryman approx $1400 under MSRP at Northern CA dealerships as well....I plan on buying out of state. Our dealerships dont deal here. I have never paid MSRP for a car and dont intend to start anytime soon.
yeah~ power to the people!
disclosure: by any means, I do not gain anything! I am very satisfied so far, and my rep I dealt with is really awesome and want to give him a referral. Clear and simple.

1400 under?! Nice... I want that deal! When I get mine, I'm basically getting no extra options, maybe an auto dimming rear view mirror. So $1400 would be awesome!
Go through a car buying company like carsdirect.com. Saves time and haggling hassles. I find that the more options I add, the more the discount I get. Try it....
No discount via carsdirect.com for WA or OR State either....so Im going to Northern CA and planning my vacation around my car purchase. Ive done that with all my vehicles and still came out ahead after cost of flying and trip back to WA state.

Does Mini accept the NRA discount at any location? Also where could I find this discount?
MakoBimmer. That's exactly where I got mine! www.carsdirect.com.. haha
Send email to bradford.hill@carsdirect.com. He is very professional and pleasant. Excellent customer service. He deals with one of larger dealers in the area (You can find out which dealer it is yourself through Brad. I won't mention it!

the ~$900 is just for a base All4 with alarm and no extras.
According to carsdirect.com, base All4 will be $813 under MSRP.
I recommend filling the form out (no obligation with carsdirect.com) Then when the rep calls you, tell them you are looking to pay under MSRP. Give them a desired price. They will try to negotiate on your behalf. Nothing to lose.
For those looking to buy in California from out of state, my research shows that CA dealers are required to collect CA tax unless the car is actually shipped out of state. You could potentially have to pay additional tax where you register the car... Just an FYI, but I would look into further if that is an option you are considering. It could still be cheaper to buy and ship...
For those in Oregon, I used the Costco program and got a very small discount off MSRP but I still needed to haggle a bit. Here, they are charging $300 over MSRP and I negotiated $100 below, so net -$400. It's bit tougher in Oregon because we don't have sales tax and only one dealer in the state...

at the location of the dealer. When I register my car in Washington, I will be given a credit for the taxes paid in California and only have to pay use tax of an additional amount equal to the Local and State Tax in Washington State....I believe its now 9.8%. I still end up paying the full tax on the car, but am not double taxed or penalized for making an out-of-state purchase.
If I take delivery of the Countryman at a dealership in California, the dealer will collect tax on the sale at the total combined sales tax rate in effect

Are you concerned about getting your car serviced at the local dealers after buying it out of state?
You can take it to any MINI dealer no problem.
I knew that, but I've been told by BMW dealers here that if you did not buy the car from them, they won't give you a free loaner while its being serviced. I imagine that many MINI dealers have the same policy. That's a big deal for me.

Also, only a week after my purchase, I wanted to change the programming of my Daytime running lights to be on (they were off be default when I got the car). Again at another nearby local service dealer (Universal City Mini), that was only a free option if the car was purchased at the dealer...otherwise a $50 fee was required.
I get free loaners with both my M Coupe and Mini at the local dealerships. I bought both cars out of state. Ive heard that line before and its just a scare tactic to get you to buy from the local dealership. What poor customer service that would be to tell someone they cant have a loaner because the car wasnt purchased at the dealership. Guess what that would do to their precious service rating system....we all know they want a 5 star rating.

With traffic the way it is in this region, I did not want to be stuck with having to go out of my way for servicing just to get a free loaner. I know So. Cal. traffic is worse (probably the only area of the country where that is true), but maybe some of the dealers there have a different policy.
