Shiny Blue Uniform, White Helmet, White Gloves, White Footwear

I am thrilled! It is a surprise for my wife's birthday, so I cannot take delivery until 3/21/11 - However, I had to greet my new buddy! Fabrizio and the amazing folks at Mini of Fairfield (CT) will keep him well fed and safe for now!

wow! such a great color combo.

I so wish we'd gotten stripes.

Good luck with the white wheels (keeping them clean is a full-time job)

I won't even tell you where I was going with that one.

Car looks fabulous - is this the first we've seen with white wheels? You'll have to keep us updated on them. Congrats & Happy Motoring.

Someone had a pic of yellow with white wheels I believe. Nice combo. I really love the white sport stripes with this color. Saw a true blue at the dealer with union jack mirror caps and white sport stripes and almost didn't take delivery of my car and was going to get that one instead!

White wheels are a pain. They look really good when clean though. Sets off my baby a treat. Liberal use of alloy wheel cleaner followed by power wash & then wheel wax keeps them at their best..

That's a really great combo - was my second choice

I am sure your wife will be thrilled - and yes keeping the wheels clean is a real pita

Eventually ebc will release an aftermarket pad that doesn't shed as much

Saw that one at the B'more MINI dealer, also. Almost shook my faith in Pure Red. It did, however, make the sport stripes mandatory. Won't be long.

I think on the bright colors, the sport stripes are just amazing. Even that puky yellow would look good with a black roof and sport stripes. With the Cosmic, though, it's more understated. I had no idea you bought from Baltimore MINI. Who is your MA?

Hello. My name is Sealy and I'm a MINIholic.

I travel to the area MINI dealers whenever I get a chance to look at colors and option combos. When its time to spring, I'll actually be ordering from Passport - they're closest to me and have been helpful. If all goes well, early to mid April should be time to order. BMW won't budge on my 3 lease - even with buying a MINI.

So you are closer to Alexandria than Annapolis? Speaking of a lease, a friend of mine has been leasing an Acura and had a year left but, out of the blue, her Stealership called her to put her in a brand new TL at the same terms and forgave her current lease. They were desperate to clear out 2010 inventory for the new 2011 models.

Aftermarket stripes are abundant and very easy to apply. Do a little searching and you'll find threads on DIY.

I feel a little out of place on a countryman page but couldn't stand to see someone suffer quietly.

That looks awesome! I ordered the same color combo (except I have a slightly different interior) and I am thrilled to see how excellent it looks. I can't wait to see it in person!

You're really making this waiting harder on me...

@Sealy
+1 for Passport... very very good dealership experience, but asking for tracking info for your car might be like speaking to a wall.
FYI: If you do not want a front bracket for tag, they will not listen to you as they need to have one for Va state inspection. So make sure you speak with your MA and provide an alternative before hand.

@others
Sorry for hijacking

Me either Sealy. Congrats to Guard's Red Car. Chromeline interior and Polar Beige Leather. Nice Wussup with not mounting the front plate. Is it because CT doesn't require one or are you doing something custom ?

Will keep original kit and hardware for possible future installation or likely go with "No Holes" bracket

For me the jury is still out on that one. Granted you may not want holes in the front bumper yet to me I'm not too keen on the off center plate. Throws off the symmetry of everything else looking at the car from the front and actually draws your eye right to it.

If it were me I'd mount it with 3M VHB tape. The same stuff they use to mount badges on vehicles. Just need to clean both surfaces real well with alcohol and apply in a warm climate. Just a thought.

Hi Hobie,

I'm interested in learning about that 3M tape. Where can I get some? How long will it stay on? Does it damage the paint?

thanks!

and Guards Red Car: what an awesome birthday present for your wife. Happy Birthday to her!

I purchased some on e-bay for a vehicle project I was working on recently. It comes in different thicknesses. The back of a license plate isn't completely flat so you would want it approximately 2 inches wide and the thickest you could get and may need to double up the tape. You could also try google search too.

It should not damage the paint if removed propertly which is with a piece of 50 pound test monofiliment fishing line to cut through the tape (between the bumper and plate) wearing gloves so the line doesn't cut your hands. then the residual adhesive should be removed with an orange based adhesive remover, goo-gone, or 3M makes an adhesive removing wheel you chock into an electric drill.
