Xenon headlights- Are they worth the $500?

I have placed my order for a Cosmic Blue All4, but the order has not been placed yet. (at my request it will be placed in early April) I have been trying to find out more about the xenon headlights, but there aren't many specifics available at the mini site. Can anyone tell me are they the true HID lights? Al;so are they those annoying blue lights? I have read that some xenon lights are merely gas filled incandescent bulbs. I don't want to pay big bucks for imitations.
Thanks for whatever you can tell me.

We got them with the Camden package but I don't think they are blue, only when we turn them on they are blue for a second or two.
I'm not sure if they are true HID, but they look really nice!

They are the real deal, self leveling and the whole bit. They are brighter but not the annoying blue. I think they are worth it. If you can go to your dealer park a halogen next to a xenon and i think you can see a pretty drastic difference even in the daytime.

They are by far the BEST lights I have ever seen. I've read some posts where people complaint about the "sharp cutoff", however for me they are perfect. If you do a lot of night driving I recommend the adaptive lights, I personally love them!

Cheers!

Xenons are definitely worth it. I don't know if I can ever have another care without them.

The difference in the look of the light cluster with the Xenons and clear turns is so striking I would probably pay the $500.00 just for that. Bonus for me is a brighter, longer lasting light and I wanted to upgrade the wheels anyway so I just got the sport package.

+1 for xenons.

They are brighter, they look cooler (both the design of the headlight cluster itself and the light it produces), and traditionally they last longer. Though, if they do go out, they are EXPENSIVE to replace and you usually have to take it to the dealer to replace.

I've had them on all almost all my cars and I've never regretted it.

I've had Xenon, but the CM is the first with the Adaptive Xenon and they are amazing while driving curvy roads as well as just turning into my neighborhood with dogs and kids running around. Now i can never go back to anything less.

Anyone know about how much they are to replace? So you need to replace the entire headlamp assembly?

Still, from what I'm reading, I made a good choice to go with them.

Well I just had to replace one of my headlights on my Acura TL... The bulb by itself was around $300 plus labor (ripoff), but unfortunately for me the inverter was out too which cost me more. I'm not sure what a Xenon bulb replacement would cost on a MINI, but it is probably close.

Now that I think about it, the Zenons are a $500 option, so I'd guess it shouldn't cost more than that to replace both...then again, you have to factor in the labor.

yeah, labor is the killer....

I paid a ton for labor, but then again I went to the dealer to do it.

I also opted for adaptive xenons...my first set of xenons and I can't wait With the Sport Package it's a great price for what you get.

Hey siriuszero...our CM's will probably be on the same ship!

Once you've used Xenons, you will never want to go back to halogens. My night vision is not that good but Xenons help me out a lot.

I had adaptive headlights on my previous car and now I regret not getting it!

I initially wasn't going to get the zenons due to my being annoyed by other drivers with bright lights and high beams. I drive a lot on country roads and I rarely (if ever) use high beams and I really wonder why some people need them for lit sections of straight roads.

Then again, I'm getting older and I did start to notice that my vision isn't so good when there is glare from the oncoming lights...so why take a knife to a gunfight? Now I can blast them around the corners with the adaptive lights.

I've had a MINI with Xenons and one without, and I'd definitely get them again. Visibility is so much better with the brighter lights.

You can see the leveling hardware behind the front wheels when the vehicle is up on a lift. The xenon lighting package is a complicated system and I don't know why it isn't more expensive. I like how they move when first turned on, how bright they are, and how they look. If you look around, you can get replacement bulbs for less than $100 dollars but you will never need to buy any anyway. I had to because a service guy didn't install it correctly after some body work. Since it wasn't installed correctly, it arced causing damage to the bulb and igniter. I purchased both items and installed them in no time, this time correctly. Get xenons!

Yet another vote for Xenons. They were on my '06 when I bought it used and I didn't think anything of it, but after doing some night driving I'll never be without them. Also, as posted above, they look cool
