Will I still get "The Wave" in my Countryman?

Not sure about where you live, but most MINI drivers here in Port, and will give you a quick wave when we pass on the road. Does that happen where you live?

I'm curious if I'll still get the wave driving the Countryman or if they'll think I'm driving something else not realizing I'm driving a MINI.

If you happen to be in New Jersey I would wave. My husband got the thumbs up from a mini owner yesterday coming from the dealer after getting the clear bra installed.

I sometimes honk when I pass by a mini too!

I will wave and hope I get waved at when driving the Countryman.

I know my wife will wave, she is an enthusiast not the general commuter driving a MINI.

I expect it'll be the same as in the Porsche community. Sometimes you get an enthusiastic wave/flash, sometimes you get ignored. Depends on whether the driver is 'tuned in' or 'tuned out'. Lots of Minis in Portland so I guess you'll find out in short order!

My guess is it will be about the same as in my Clubman or in a standard MINI.
Those of us that are enthusiasts and 'enjoy' our MINIs will probably wave. The people who bought a MINI as a "car' don't usually have a clue about waving anyways.

Yeah, I would say about 70% of people wave when you hit direct line of sight. The rest just ignore me.

The embarrassing one is when I'm out on the road, see another MINI and give the wave and they just look back really confused. I'm like "Dude, what's your deal." and then I realize that I'm driving the Dodge truck...

I live in San Antonio, TX and have only gotten the wave about 4 times since I first started owning Minis in 2009.

I just wish that all owners were enthusiasts... or at least read their Mini literature, lol.

This is my first MINI. While driving the other day, a MINI hardtop driver waved at me. Took me a second to realize it was a MINI thing and not someone I knew. By then of course it was too late to return the wave. Next time.

I still wave, and will wave at the Countryman when I see one. My daughter loves to wave and see if they wave back. If not she states "NOT a MINI person".

In my MCS, I try to wave at every oncoming MINI I see. My wife usually sits in the passenger seat laughing at me.

Every wave I get back is awesome. Every time I miss a car and they wave at me, I feel awful.

Midnight, I'm glad you've gotten some unsolicited waves, it looks like MINI owners are very accepting toward their new brethren!

When I first got my 05 I received a lot more waves. Not it's about 1 in 10. I try to always wave and do like to get a response. What I like even more is convincing someone to go take a test drive. It is surprising how many that test drive actually buy.

Of course!

You better believe I'd wave! Countryman, Clubman, Hardtop, Convertable, it doesn't matter, we're ALL drivers of MINIs and deserve a wave.

Still get lots of waves in Savannah, although the student population seem to be the exception to the rule. Still 6 or 7 out of 10 wave and wave back. We don't have a dealership in town, 110 miles North or 140 miles south, so, we really have to be dedicated to be able to take a day off for a scheduled service. That might explain the high rate of enthusiasm here.

I hope I continue to get the wave. I'll still give it.

Oh, we also wave at the half dozen or less Smart Cars in town, and they wave back. The solidarity of the small.

Just to update. Been driving the Countryman a couple weeks now. I still get some waves so that is good. Any the occasional wave with the "Hey cool, that's that new MINI" look which is fun too.

I have gotten a few confused "Hey, why are you waving at me?" looks which I never got before which I account for people not realizing I'm driving a MINI because that never happened in my MCS which has a more iconic MINI paint job.

Got a wave and light flash today while driving the CM in town. WTH!

I was confused since it was a smaller SUV, I guess liking the new MINI Countryman.

At first I thought it was a courtesy warning for the local city radar trap, but no trap, just a happy neighbor.

OK, had the Countryman for 3 months. The verdict is in. I don't get the wave...

I still drive my 03' and I'd guess that it is about 40% for people who wave back and about 10% of those people wave at me first.

In the Countryman, almost no one waves back and when they do, they usually have a confused look on their face trying to figure out why I'm waving at them. I really don't think most MINI owners know what the Countryman is...

We had to use the Mazda5 (6 people) the other day and I still waved at all MINIs when I saw them. I imagine they were wondering why the nut in the Mazda was waving at them

I agree. No waves in a Countryman. I would have thought a Countryman would wave back, but I think the guy was dead. I waved, beeped and rolled the window down and waved. He was stopped at a light right beside me. He didn't have a clue.

I've seen that one twice and a white with black roof once.

We took delivery of husband's Countryman today and he got his first wave within an hour of leaving the dealership! We were in north Dallas and it was a pepper white convertible. It was the cherry on top of an already fabulous day!

I have to report I got my CM Friday, and Saturday a Yellow MCS slowed down to almost a stop next to us while we were waiting behind traffic on the road to give us not just a wave but a big thumbs up...

It's not like I'm not going to wave at other MINIs as well!
