Would someone please tell my wife I'm not crazy?

OK - my first post. We're the proud owner of a Chili Red/Black Roof 2006 MINI Cooper - and my wife already thinks I'm acting in obsessive ways. All because I gave the summer tires and rims a bath in the kitchen sink after I switched over to the new Michelin X Ice snows! Really - isn't this normal??

I would have chosen the bath tub.

+1

but of course i don't need summer and winter tires so i would have just cleaned them on the car, But if i did need different tires i would clean them in the bath tub.

DG2 Dec 9, 2006 11:48 AM

I had a hard enough time smuggling them into the kitchen!!

CR&PW&JB Dec 9, 2006 11:49 AM

Have her give me a call, DG2.

1-555-ALSONUTS

I'll tell her about the time I woke up at 2:30 in the morning and couldn't get back to sleep until I went out in the garage to see if the new heater was keeping it warm enough for our MINIs.

She'll realize how lucky she is to have you.

At least it was just the wheels in the bath. You should have heard the abuse I got when I cleaned a Land Rover cylinder head in the dish washer.

asodestrom Dec 9, 2006 12:03 PM

Do you think 16" rims would fit in the dishwasher:confused:

Bathtub. Just clean the ring around the tub afterwards. What she doesn't know.... :sly:

tdm156 Dec 9, 2006 12:06 PM

Depends on how big your dishwasher is...maybe you could take out the top rack and they would fit

MY4thMINI Dec 9, 2006 12:15 PM

yaH sorry to say it

sorry to have to break it to ya  DG2

WELCOME TO THE CLUB !!!!

chows4us Dec 9, 2006 12:17 PM

I hope you didn't use Dawn on them ... takes the wax right off:eek:

WTH ... How could a wheel fit in the kitchen sink unless you got one of those huge mothers meant for laundry rooms?

DG2 Dec 9, 2006 12:20 PM

I used warm water only with an old piece of a cotton towel - the dirt came right off. Take a look at my gallery.:)

ARTSJCW Dec 9, 2006 12:27 PM

Thats a GREAT idea. Perhaps I should try it as well.

JJ Blue Dec 9, 2006 12:33 PM

The Tire Bath 1 photo can only be called high art. That thing should be displayed in the Museum of Modren Art right next to the Warhols.

KPMINI Dec 9, 2006 03:14 PM

Those picture are cool. I would not say that you are crazy, maybe determined.
Happy Motoring

The problem would be...

MINI Monkey Dec 9, 2006 03:41 PM

I waxed my wheels on the center island and the kitchen table the last time I had them off the car. My wife jokes that I would park my MINI in the dining room if she would let me. Maybe we are all just a little crazy but at least we have each other.

dimini Dec 9, 2006 05:46 PM

:) Ok, I don't wash my car parts inside the house, but I do spend an abnormal amount of time sitting in my car (in the garage) while talking to various pals on my cell phone. I always kid them and confess that I'm sitting in the best seat in the house, which is true as the garage is attached. All I need now is a 50" plasma on the wall in the garage and I could be tempted to live out there.

jq77 Dec 9, 2006 06:48 PM

My wife loves my MINI devotion time!

Do ya think she's happy to get rid of me for a few minutes/hours?

DG2 Dec 10, 2006 02:51 AM

Thanks, everyone - I'll show this thread to my wife so she'll better understand that this episode of my behavior (and whatever obsessive quirks come out in the future!) are completely normal.:nod:

Welcome to NAM :-)

I'm sorry, but I have to agree with your wife. That was flat out crazy, what the heck were you thinking?:eek2: If it was me I'd have done it in the bath tub & used my wifes favorite bubble bath.

T2Nav Dec 10, 2006 07:36 AM

Tell her you'll make up for it by detailing the kitchen sink with cleaners and waxes so exotic you can only buy them via the internet.

elprofe Dec 10, 2006 07:50 AM

yep....she is right!

snooter Dec 10, 2006 02:13 PM

Well at least you didn't get naked and clean them while you take a bath.:eek2: NOW that would make you crazy. As of now your just obsessed like the rest of us

I don't get it...this is crazy how???

Normal is all relative. You are talking to a bunch of MINI nuts so yes, this is completely normal.

BTW...nice color selection :)
