What's underneath the cloth seats

Does anyone know what material is underneath the cloth seats?

Foam?

That'd be my guess, too.

I'm taking a chance and making an assumption here, but I would imagine that they use the same materials underneath the upholstery regardless of whether you have cloth, leather, leatherette or cloth/leather combo. Most likely this is a high grade foam of some sort, as they use in just about any kind of upholstery.

Does anyone have any clean photos of MCSC chili red with white bonnet stripes and silver mirrors and gray cloth seats?

I thought they might just take the leatherette and throw the covers over the top.

English wheat, hops and grain.

Seriously, I'd imagine it's just some foam and insulation material. This is the stuff underneath the leather seat of my friend's BMW when his ex-girlfriend carved the passenger side with a knife in a jealousy rage (long and pathetic story).

My wife upgraded the seats in her Yukon to Katskin Leather and the installers actually took the original covers off the seats (bare naked) and recovered it with the new leather. So I'm guessing they would either take the leatherette off to be replaced with cloth, or they just install cloth seats seperately.

The cloth seats are actual upholstered seats - I ordered the Space Grey cloth on my MC. They are not seat covers, but actual upholstery, so there isn't anything else underneath the cloth other than what is under all the others. I would imagine that if you took off the "skin" of any type of seat, they would all have the same stuff underneath.

If you pull the rear seat (very easy to do) and flip it over you can see that it is some sort of high density foam. I would guess the front seats are as well.

There's some foam, then underneath the foam are some springs shaped like a long squiggle. I've had a set disassembled.

PS The leather seats get an adjustable lumbar support in the backrest where the cloth seats do not.
