It's Official!!!!!!!!!!

I just returned my dealer. I have offically ordered my MCS in Chili red w/black top, black bonnet stripes, prem, cold, sport, convenience pkg, black leather, anthracite headliner, anthracite interior, H/K sound system. Oh yeah, manuel tranny! My production wk is the first of september with delivery last of nov or beginning of dec. And, I worked a personal deal for discount on my aftermarket accessories! Now when I think about it, I managed to work that deal with a parts guy when I bought my bimmer in 04. Excellent. I did almost order the dark silver. I struggled... but the red won. I have never owned a red car before. Always had blue, gray or green cars. Ok, so I am ssooooo excited. And relieved. Now I can get back to wedding planning, and ski trip planning. That is after I am done dancing in the living room. :)

Congratulations Climbergirl! I picked up my 06 Dark Silver MCS (Red/Black is an excellent choice by the way IMHO) in March and it's been a love affair ever since. You have every reason to do the happy dance. Now the tough part - waiting for your delivery...

Warm regards,

DIVMINI

Gongrats!!! Another happy Mini addict!!! I got a Dark Silver myself but you can't go wrong with the chili red.

climbergirl Aug 1, 2006 03:12 PM

The awesome thing about the dark silver is that in the sun if looks like liquid! I love that look. Sooo... for my little hottie, i am going to invest in some awesome wax! Hey, I think I just named my car. "little hottie". What do you guys think about the permaseal stuff??

gizzer777 Aug 1, 2006 03:24 PM

climbergirl Aug 1, 2006 03:27 PM

Oh, but Minimax, you will be motoring around so much sooner!! ANDDD.. you have the JCW. I am soo jealous!

handn Aug 3, 2006 06:06 AM

Congrats on your order!

But something doesn't sound quite right... your MINI is scheduled for production at the beginning of September and will be in transit almost 3 whole months? Must be taking the scenic route. :sly:

I'm tentatively Week 36 (labor day week) and my dealer's telling me mid-late October.

Mini Mizer Aug 3, 2006 06:12 AM

Congrats on your order!!

I think we think you could do better w/ products you can apply yourself. Something of a dealer gimmick, imo. A clear bra might be a good thing to consider, though. Congrats on ordering your baby!!!

Some high end wax/polish products (like zaino or klasse) would probably do a better job of protecting the finish than the perma-seal products. Don't buy the pitch that the perma-seal will protect your finish from birds**t... that is flat-out not true. I tried it in 2002 on a black Volvo S60AWD that I was leasing. I had to re-paint most of the car from the etching that accompanies birds**t. Fortunately, I had really good comprehensive coverage - the only downside was that I paid as much for the perma-seal product as I paid in deductible on the re-paintings.... Clear-bra you can get from detailing shops usually for less than what the dealer sells it for (and if you are into researching, you can find the distributor that sells to the detail shops and go direct...). Good luck with your about to be MINI!

Awww....shucks:o (scuffs at imaginary dirt...)

climbergirl Aug 3, 2006 07:39 PM

Hey Handn, I don't have my production number as of yet. My MA knows that I will be calling every few days. I kind of think that their production allotment will fall toward the end of september in order for a nov, begin of dec delivery date. When I ordered my BMW (with no plant closures, MINI is doing a 45 day closure I think), it took 2 mo's. Foomanchu ordered his from SB a few days earlier, and he has the same delivery time. It's just teaching me to be patient.

climbergirl Aug 3, 2006 08:39 PM

Changed my color

Offically changed my order from CR/B to DS/B. I guess I better change my avatar.:)

handn Aug 3, 2006 08:48 PM

Ah... makes more sense now.

About the color changes, changed once from the initial order myself. Might make a dash color change tomorrow... or not... too many (good) choices!

climbergirl Aug 3, 2006 09:35 PM

Handn,
hey, you better hurry up, I am going to make it into 2nd gear before you do!

No! Oh, well . . . it'll still be a pretty cool ride.

climbergirl Aug 4, 2006 05:12 PM

Doin the happy dance for the next 4 mo's... hmm.... think I will design something custom for my roof! I am kind of (ok, I am) a battlestar gallactica fan (natic). maybe... a cylon... no.no... gotta be something unique and unusual. See, this is why I don't have a tattoo.

ashboomstick Aug 4, 2006 08:39 PM

Congrats on the new ride! Don't think that you're odd if you end up on the Owner's Lounge tracking your car 8,9,30 times a day; we were all just as bad.

Ah, Baltarstar Gacracktica...great show!!!

climbergirl Aug 4, 2006 09:21 PM

Yeah, can't wait until this next season!! It's been 3-4 mo's or more I think. At first, I was going into withdraws. Kept looking for other good sci-fi stuff. Wish it was televised in HD during the first run. Funny thing is, my BF realized that I was a scifi lover when he would talk to me during a battlestar episode and I would pause the TV until he was finished. I am soo bad.

ashboomstick Aug 5, 2006 01:45 AM

Yeah, I have to do that with my wife when we're watching Justice League!
the good thing is between the Star Wars flicks, Farscape, and BSG I've pretty much turned her into a sci-fi geek too. Mwah-hah-hahh!!

Get a Stargate on the roof. That'd definately be different.
