Production Week vs Completion Date

I'm confused about some things I've read. I see members in a particular Production Week Support Group talking about picking up their MINI's in that particular week.

Isn't a production week when they begin assembling, etc. one's MINI? And the pick up date would be just after delivery/completion.

Help me understand!

My understanding is that your completion date is in your production week. So, your production day and completion date are one in the same. Call 1-866-Ask-MINI and they may have your estimated completion date.

Hmmm...always something new to learn! So if my Production Week is 27 (Week of July 3), sometime during that week my MINI will be complete.

Then it's shipped to the US, unloaded, trucked, etc. to get to Arizona.

My MA says my delivery date (available for pick up?) will be mid-August to mid-September.

Would it take 6-8 weeks to get here? That seems like a lot.

I do remember her saying that I would likely get a "production slot in July". Given that and the above about the 6-8 weeks to "deliver", I would say my MINI goes into production the first week of July.

What do you think?

It moves through production in a matter of days. So, it will most likely start and finish production during the week of July 3rd. Then it takes a few days to get to the dock in Southampton, then anywhere from a few days to a few weeks to get on a ship. It takes 23 days to get to California on the ship, then another week or two to get to your dealership. Sooooo . . . . it's a long involved process, even though the production of your car happens relatively quickly. Hope that helps.
