Production Week 27 (July 3, 2006) Support Group
Nice to see you around Rob! Wow, 8800 miles eh? Jake is just under 24K!
I'm low compared to our newest MA though.
Congrats on the new job Drew!
Sheeb and all - Here's a link to some photos of the newest family member, JACK! Plus a little teaser with his new bonnet bling!

Glad to see a few of us hanging on to PW27SG. Can you believe it has been a year?

PS Jake is fine after his belt replacement. They used a JCW which I had to pay for ($220) because of my "after market" pulley. Oh well, could have been a lot worse. They could have made me pay for the water pump replacement!

My PW 27 news is that I just got my first ticket in forever...
I neglected to stop before a right turn on red and there was a motorcycle cop right there to nab me. I had to go around the scene of an accident so I was distracted.
As for the car, I just had the manual transmission replaced. There was fluid leak initially diagnosed as coming from an axle seal. There is also a rattle from the driver's side kick panel that the dealer has not fully fixed. They took the easy route and put felt tape under the panel. I think that there is something behind the panel that is causing the rattle, not just a loose panel.
No mods yet, except that I got a great deal on a 15% reduction pulley ($85) and I am planning on getting some old school pinstriping done on the interior.

Sorry to hear about your ticket astrochex... it happens to the best of us. Doesn't sound like you were doing anything stupid or really dangerous.
The news with my MINI is that I am currently at the dealer, getting my 30k oil change... although my actual milage is 33350 miles!! Holy cow! I drive a lot huh? Still love my MINI as if I just got it.
I started a car "enthusiast" club in the New England region with a few other MINI owners. Our website is www.massmotoringclub.com. Check us out sometime. I also made up some wicked cool decals for the club too. I'll have to take a photo and post this.
Hope all is well with you PW 27'ers!

Hey all. Sorry I haven't been around in AGES. Buddha will be 19 months old in 2 days. He has about 18k on him and has performed flawlessly. He went in for his annual check up and I had them take care of a few minor issues, (squeaky sunroof, seat return, air handler door squeal) and he got a clean bill of health. I also picked up an extra set of OEM MINI rims for $270 off CL in perfect shape!! They are the 17" optional wheels for the convertible, 5-spoke, and I think they will be a nice look. I'm about ready to get rid of the run-craps since they are worn out.
Went to Canada last week and visited the MINI dealer in Oakville (outside of Toronto) and scoped out the Canadian MINIs. Very nice people there and seeing a speedo that goes up to 240 kph is pretty cool! Also sat in a new clubman at the Detroit auto show. There is a lot to like about it, but there are also some things that make you go, "wtf were they thinking???"
I'll be back around now. Hope all is well in the new year for everyone!

Over 25K miles on Joshua now, how is everyone else doing for mileage? I'm replacing my runflats this week with Yokohama W4S 215-45/17s. I put the same tires on my wifes 06 Avalon and loved the way they felt to I'm going with them, rates for 40-50K mileage too.
happy motoring.
happy motoring.
Alas, it's been forever since I've visited the PW27 thread...figured I'd drop in with an update or two.
A year and a half in, Evie continues to be a fantastic car - probably the best I've ever owned. She's a bit thirstier with the gas than I'd like, but she remains a blast to drive, especially down the winding hill country roads west of Austin. She's also won me over to small cars so completely and thoroughly that I can't help but cringe every time my wife suggests we take her CR-V somewhere instead.
I'd intended to keep Evie in the garage for several years...but the recent arrival of baby Nolan has brought me face to face with one of the Mini's few limitations - the inability to carry people and stuff simultaneously. Not to mention how far I have to jack the passenger seat forward to fit the carseat in the back...
To that end, I placed an order for a CR/B Clubman S last week, and will be taking delivery/trading in Evie sometime in late May/early June.

I haven't been around in ages either! Congrats on the new clubman, Doogs... and the new baby!
Mary and I are about to hit 50,000 miles. I should have hit it ages ago, but I started carpooling with my husband, so Mary's getting some well deserved downtime. Also, I have two bent rims (not sure how that happened!), so it's best to let her sit a bit until I can afford new wheels.

I'm at 46000 miles now.
Been doing the mod thing lately with a CAI and 15% reduction pulley. Car is more fun than ever with the same gas mileage.
Runflats have been ditched also.
My next plan is sound deadening for the wheel wells.

Looks like all our MINIs are happy and enjoying motoring with us.
It is great you can still have a MINI in the family Doogs!
PiRho is doing well! He just passed 50k back in December and is showing his age a bit, but still happy to motor around. Just recently had to get the power steering pump replaced because the cooling fan siezed (ah, I love New England car abuse :P), but the AWESOME dealership MINI of Peabody I got him from fixed it all gratis, even though he was over his 50k milage warranty!
Few pics:

My BF still has his MINI as well but is giving his a break for the winter.

A year and a half with no posts?
I guess it has been almost 4 years since we got our MINIs!
Jake is as awesome as ever. Lots of shoes, lots of miles, good motoring!
He will be 4 in August and has 78,852 miles as of today.
Chime in with updates!
Hope all is well...

We're up to 33,000 miles on our Cooper S and it's been great. We have noticed that the interior has quite a few rattles, but other than that it's been a very enjoyable car.
We bought it to autocross. We added special shocks, light weight wheels and a different front sway bar. We raced it for one season and then stopped. Did really well taking second in the season championship.
Now it's become my wifes daily driver. We've taken the shocks off and put the originals back on.
We've only gone through one set of street tires which is surprising. The inside edge wore out a lot faster than the rest of the tire. We figure that's from spinning the tires too much driving around town.
The white wheels are a pain to keep clean, but we knew that when we purchased it. When the car is clean we still get lots of compliments on it.
In a few more years we're thinking of trading it in for a used BMW M3....assuming we can afford it.

A new tranny for Jake at 83,814
Hey all...
VERY long time. I really never planned on selling Jake so I purchased all the extended warranties I could. Jake's mechanical warranty expires at 89K so I said "Jake, if you're going to do something major, do it NOW." He complied.
I don't know what a engine "should" get. I drove this one pretty hard for four years. I paid extra for a MINI reman instead of a used one. Regardless, what a difference!
