I don't have a clue what I'm doing!

Hi fellow Mini owners. I am the proud new owner of an 06 S. It is the best thing ever! I was referred here by another owner in town but to be honest this whole thing is quite overwhelming. I've never done forums before. It looks as though I could devote my whole life to it and never read it all! Anyway, I'm excited to jump right in and give it a try. I've already learned you can have an instant bond over nothing in common but loving Minis. That's all you need.

Step 1: Find your local MINI club. NAM is a great place to start reading, but nothing beats the friendship and help you will find at your local events, matching faces and grills to the screen names!

Welcome to the MINI community!

Where are you (city/state)... If you post it here, your local club might find you! ;)

Good for you julierae73!!! Jump on in! Even though there's lots of great info here, it's super that you can just drive your MINI as is and have a blast. It's just that darn good right out of the box!!!

Don't forget to visit "off-topic"...a great place to get crazy!!!:eek2:

not to worry :impatient
"i don't have a clue what i'm doing" either

You mean we're supposed to know what we're doing?!?!?!?:eek2:

Welcome aboard!

Just 'wander' around the site and jump in on any topics you find interesting or ask any questions that come to mind. You will have more help than you know what to use. Before long you will wonder how you lived without visiting forums.

And like agranger said: find a MINI Club:thumbsup:

Don't worry, after the 4 hours of mandatory forum training it will all make sense.

Welcome!

Thanks for all the advice. ya'll are great. I'm in Prescott, AZ- home of some super sweet stretches of road. I found the Do's and Don'ts thread. It was hilarious

Welcome aboard!

You may also want to subscribe to MC Squared magazine. It covers Mini stuff....

What do you want out of your car? Cool ride? Get in some track time? Bling? You can get info on all that stuff here as well....

I believe 89AKurt also lives in Prescott. There are some very fun and friendly MINIacs in AZ. Welcome to NAM! We have lots of fun, and the more you post, the more other people will get to know you and vice versa.

julierae73 - none of us actually read ALL of the drivel on this site; that would indeed be a full-time job. Hang around for a bit, and you'll figure out which forums interest you the most. Don't forget to come visit us in Off Topic! :)

Welcome,
Chris

If you click on the "Forums"...

in the upper left corner, underneath the North American Motoring . Com logo, you'll get to see the "table of contents" for the forums. Scroll down, and you'll find the heading "Off-Topic". If it's collapsed, click on it, and you'll see "Off Topic:Autos" for car things non-Mini, and "Off Topic: Off Topic" for pretty much everything else.

There are also regional and club listings down there, and that will help you find people in your area or near to it.

If you wander in the Gallery, you can find lots of pics (you have a gallery too, but you have to upload stuff into it), and the Reviews section covers parts and some other stuff as well.

Wander around a bit, once you understand the layout, life will be easier I'm sure!

Also, lots of other sites use the same basic philosophy, so this will help as you explore more of cyberspace!

Another good thing to check when you 1st come on each day is the "new posts" link on the left menu  it will show you all the most recent irrelevant poop scoop everyone is gabbing about
