Flew down from OAK to Long Beach yesterday, lunchtime and picked up my CR/B MCS. A "quick" drive back up 101 took just under 8 hours including:
  • Standard LA traffic
  • Dodging a strecth H2 (sometimes the right answer is NOT "Because you can.")
  • Stopping for In-N-Out -- eating IN, of course
  • Getting lapped by a yellow 993 Turbo outside Santa Barbara
  • One fuel stop in King City
  • Shaking a Pontiac Transport off of my tail in Salinas
  • Playing "The Peninsula Job" from Belmont to San Mateo with an approving DS/B MCS
..all the while varying the speed between 55-80 in 5th and 6th gears. I think I was within the break-in guidelines.

Today I put on the checker mirror caps and the europlate. I did order this plate from CA, so I'll swap it once it arrives (as far as you know). So now that it's all adorned, here are the requisite driveway pics (just ignore the forlorn Miata that's now on the curb).

Congrats - sharp looking MINI. Now get that sticker off from the dash! :)

Nice MINI, sounds like you had a fun break-in. Don't they look so nice in their first few days?

An eventful beginning, I'd say, to many miles of motoring moments to be enjoyed and cherished. Congrats!!

D'oh! That's quite the faux pas.

I guess that after 8 hours in the car I'd blocked it out. I'll get right out there with the Goo Gone!

Congrats! Glad to see that all the Week 4 babies are making their way home. Love that CR/B. It will always have a special place in my heart

Sounds like a great trip home. That's the right way to break in your new wheels.
Your car looks great. Any future mods in mind?

Nothing engine-wise while under warranty. Plus, I'm coming from a 1st gen Miata, so I'm likely to get into trouble w/ stock.

The Euro Parcel shelf is the only thing I didn't get to today. I've already got a Glovebox Tidy. There will be a Bluetooth carkit and perhaps an iPod/Icelink+. But I'm going to wait another month for those. And after driving this far with the crappy cupholders, I think I'm going to put in one, maybe two of the "cuplink" tube-mounted holders.

Ask me in a few years and we can talk CAI and other fun stuff.

Sweet Mini. Nice color too; probably would have been my second choice.

Great colors!!! I just ordered a CR/B w/red interior too. Now I only have to wait 7 more weeeeeks.!
