JCW help (let's not get crazy here)
 

I'm pretty dead set on spec'ing the Works kit in my order, but I recently got chastised by a friend, him saying that the works kit is a gimmick to jack the price up to appeal to the BMW people (a budget M series so to speak). He's adamant that the MCS can't get much better than it is stock in terms of power vs performance.

I know the numbers and all that (I'm not looking to get into that argument), but could he be right? I've driven both the naturally aspirated & the S & they both kick butt, but I can't see NOT going for it all. If it's there more balls to be had, why not get it?.

yes, I have searched the topic, but I'm wondering if there's anything I'm missing in terms of arguing for or against the JCW Kit.

If you really want to research this without getting into the JCW is Crap Crap. Go to the JCW website and download the interviews with Michael Cooper. See what he says about what he was trying to do with his Works cars. HE is the man. HE designed them, they are HIS vision. I should add that its more than just the TC. Its the brakes and suspension that works together to make the car balanced all around. Go over to motoring file and read the reviews from the professionals on the suspension to see what Cooper was trying to do ... which is NOT build a race car.

Then decided for yourself without getting 5 million opinions thrown at you from two sides of an arguement that no one can win.

Just remember ... the ONLY one you have to please is yourself. If your happy, its your money, you do what you want ... I seriously doubt you will be disappointed.:thumbsup:

Go and test drive a JCW car and compare to stock, if you like order it if you don't think its worth it then don't order it, and it is YOUR car not your friends, also there are many aftermaket parts out there and there is definately room for more power than stock!

I think the best way to put it, is the way I've described it to a buddie who's Works MCS is at the docks waiting the boat.

The 2006 Factory Works package is basically the ///M of MINIs.

For what you used to pay for the dealer to rip the engine bay apart, you get the factory to build the car to spec, AND add the additional stopping power of the JCW brakes.

Can you do it cheaper aftermarket?.. sure. BUT is it as seameless as the factory JCW? NO!
