Hello all. I’ve lurked here over the years and gotten good info on my 03 R53. I originally bought that Mini to flat tow behind our motorhome. When I bought it I didn’t know the difference between an S and a regular mini. I just knew they looked more fun than any other small light stick shift cars. My business is building hot rods and custom cars, and fabrication. So, it wasn’t too long with the help of this site that I began modifying my Mini. Over the years it’s
gotten a complete Milltek Exhaust, Alta pulley, aftermarket sway bars and painted the stock wheels black. It’s been a blast. Until I ran it out of oil…
So, I did some reading, watched some videos and tore into the engine. In a few hours it was out and the damage was to the number 3 rod bearing. I had the crank welded, heat treated and ground and rebuilt the entire engine. And life was good again. Now, a 2013 R56 John Cooper Works has found it’s way into our garage. The questions will begin, only this time I feel it’s only fair to participate in the forum and contribute.
Sorry for the long intro. But I had to make up for years of mooching!
