New Mini Owner
Hi,
I'm a new owner of a used 2012 Mini Cooper S Convertible (black on black). Just took delivery today and found out that the car does not come w/ Navigation despite a screen in the center console. Hoping I can learn or have someone take me under their wings to show me how to install a factory NAV unit... And thx for having me!

Welcome to the forum and the MINI experience. Your first challenge seems like one with an easy solution. I suspect others will follow with a quick solution.
Post some pictures so we can see your new MINI. They are all unique and we appreciate the chance to see new member’s new acquisitions
Enjoy the ride.

Thx WayMotorWorks but not having a nav in my car feels "naked" so I guess I'm just very used to a moving map in the center console whenever I want it. Plus the aesthetics of a factory nav is always better than a stuck on like a TomTom or Garmin. Hoping someone out there have done it and confident enough to show me the ropes. :-)

I agree with both sides of the discussion. Phone based GPS apps and stick-in-the-window GPSes are more accurate, easy to use and so on. That said, I too would rather use an in-car system.
I am surprised that someone has not come through with a solution. If the screen is there, it would seem to me that only the software is missing. I would have bet that it would have been an easy fix. Second potential solution is using the screen to access a phone based app. Anybody have any ideas how this can be accomplished?
By the way - we still need pictures of your new MINI...

First, welcome.
Second, I agree that even my brand new system leaves something to be desired since it is not touchscreen or nav or apple carplay enabled.
That said, I love waze and spend more time just thinking about driving without a screen changing on me. So, it’s not the worst trade off. For my 2019, I plan to get a cravenspeed mount for my iPhone and maybe some Bavsound speakers down the road.

Nice, like how the ducts match the mirror caps.
