I've seen better preserved examples go for around the same mark, so I think that particular car is slightly overpriced.

Back when I was in the market I came across an MC40 in Florida that had the full JCW performance kit including carbon dash etc --- it was priced at $6,500 and sold within 3 days so I didn't even have a chance to go check it out.

I love the MC40's and many of them were kitted up to the max with JCW goodies.

The MINI market has some pretty wild fluctuations so it's difficult to peg exactly.

This low mileage 06 JCW on BaT with the same color scheme as an MC40 should go for a nice sum:

I wouldn't be surprised to see it go for $12k or thereabouts.

I think they are rare and cleaned up they are collectible. +1 if it has a JCW Tuning kit its a win for sure. Some people might be asking more because it was just seen on wheeler dealer. I remember when these were new in the showroom. I was just getting on order for my R52. Lots of them back in the day sat in the dealers and did not sell because at the time it was a lot of money for a MINI that had no sunroof, no cruise control, and people did not really know the rarity. Most were then upgraded with dealer add on kits, like the JCW Tuning kit...etc to help move them. I heard some were sold at a huge discount towards the end of 2004, beginning of 2005. I still have some of the launch paperwork from that model.
I dont think people today that are into Euro cars know much about the rare models of MINI (or MINI in general) so they just think they are like the rest. Now on the MINI forums and crowd, most people know about the GP models and how low the production numbers were. Low production/rare numbers in most brands is more than MINI sells in a year ;)
I agree if you can find a clean JCW they are on average are worth much more and most people jump on them.

My MC40 does not have the JCW option. It was in decent shape when I bought it (125,000 miles). I paid $4,000 and have since put only another $2,000 into it. Believe it or not, in 2004, the window sticker was $28,000+. I've added a 15% pulley and a bunch of other normal wear & tear maintenance items but now have a really fun little MINI to blast around in. Since the MC40 package was purely cosmetic ($8,000 add-on by the way) I doubt that they will ever be "highly sought after" but it's a kick to have a MINI that's different from most and lets you hang around with the cool kids. :lol:

They didn't exactly sell like hotcakes ... some dealers ended up having to discount them.

Yep, i think my local dealer had one till the end of 2005. They acted like they could not even sell it back in the day. Most dealers got one of them some big dealer got 3. This was at a time when you have to order your MINI you wanted and there was a big wait list.
