New MC40 Owner and new to Forum

First test drive.
I just bought my first Mini a week ago. I picked up MC40 #840. It only had 33,500 miles on it. Glad to be here at the forum and learn from everyone. 15% pulley and intake are going on next Friday. I can't wait to unleash the supercharger.

Wow! Great find. Even your decals look decent. I bought #826 (125k miles) and the decals were barely legible. Looks like yours has been babied. First thing you'll want to do is get rid of those run-flat tires. The difference in ride comfort is eye-opening. Congratulations!

welcome! your car looks so much like the R53 that was on Wheeler Dealer. The mileage is different so they're not the same.

Hi and welcome to the NAM family, MC40 Russ!
Congrats on your very, very nice MC40! A rare and super cool first gen Mini!
The pic looks like you live west of the Cascades! You are close to some really fun roads. These street legal go-carts are made for the twisties and I am sure your smile will increase once you get out to them! Just be careful, as that smile may become permanent!

Welcome. Was that car bought off the MINI of Portland lot? I seem to recall seeing it a few weeks ago.

I've heard that the runflats are a much harsher ride. The previous owner just put these on, since the he had the original 14 year old tires still on there. (Tire recommendations anyone?)
I bought the car from a guy in Wyoming on Aug 4, not from Mini of Portland, although I have had it over there a few times to get stuff fixed and pick up some parts. I was at Mini of Portland for the MTTS event and saw another one there. They even had Paddy Hopkirk there for an event a few weeks back. Too bad I didn't have it then, he could have signed my car.
Thanks for the welcome everyone.

Hankook v12 205/45/17 used them many times. That would have been cool if your MC40 was there for that event.

Choice of tires depend entirely on your usage. I run Federal 215/45r17s on my MC40. They have a 40,000-mile guarantee and are around $60 ea. through walmart.com. Tread pattern is really aggressive looking which you may not like.

And before everyone starts yelling, I realize they're cheap tires but they have excellent owner/driver reviews, and did I mention they're cheap? Plus they're much more comfortable than run-flats and perfectly adequate for a weekend-only car that never sees redline (well, occasionally).
