My First Mini!

Hello All,

I have been silently absorbing a ton of information from this forum as I searched for my first Mini. The search is over and I am super excited. I picked up a 2012 JCW yesterday with only 32k miles and spent most of the day just driving it around town!!! I'm not super crazy about the color combo on this car, but as hard as these low mileage JCW's are to find, I was very excited to snatch it from the dealership the very day that they posted it. I look forward to posting some of the work that I will be doing to this car and continuing to read about what others are doing.

One question that I have, is about my headlight bezels. Picture below. I want to paint them black along with some of the other chrome trim, but they seem to be peeling. Has anyone else had this issue and found a decent solution other than just buying new ones. Trying not to spend too much money on the Mini until my other project is finished.

Thanks in advance for the help!

Hey, The Mini looks great! The color is fairly rare and should grow on you! The wheels are great and overall, what bad can be said of a JCW model!
Welcome to the NAM family and congrats on your 12 MCS JCW!
That chrome piece looks defective for the year it is. If you decide to pain them black, this one would need to be sanded, to remove the defective chrome job. Maybe the dealer will replace it at no cost to you!

Welcome.

Yea, that chrome on plastic is a tough nut to crack, sometimes it just doesn't work out as well as it should, and I would expect that minor flaws be caught in the QA process but lately I think even BMW/MINI are looking at bottom line and don't really give a capybara's butt over quality.

Great looking car, blacked out trim would look nice with that color..

Motor On!
