On my 3rd MINI
#3
Welcome to NAM.
Great looking car to which some may ask how I know? Well perhaps because I was behind him just before a car in front of us blew a belt. My red vert is behind him in the picture where there were a bunch of us pulled over the on the side of the road.
Thinking that was at the bottom of Squirrel Spur Road, one of God's gifts to a MINI owner. Will be heading back up there in a couple of weeks.

Thanks! My goal is to get out to more events across the southeastern US this year. Definitely want to visit the Dragon, VIR and possibly a Caffeine & Octane event in the ATL. And to visit Asheville’s Cars and Coffee nights, to name a few outings.

I chuckle when I think about the day we did the ride. The OP's car had old tires and it was a bummer getting stuck behind him. Two of us went from our area and neither one of us are small. We got to the meeting place early so went inside for a pit stop. I am walking back out, look over toward the cars. My friend is standing there and I do a double take as there is this really big guy standing next to him. Not fat at all, but BIG.
When my friend's car breaks down we all pull over on the side of the road, the picture is above. We are all standing around talking and then head back to the cars. I am looking in at CallmeRacerB chatting. I am outside his car, lots of people around, going to stay with my friend waiting for the tow truck as the the others drive off. Figuring I could run to my car before he caught me (to beat the hell out of me), I said, "you need to learn to drive a little faster." This is when he says his tires are old.
I also considered that he would take pity on the old man that was razzing him.
I was lucky, he did . . . . .

Still running the oe Pirelli Run Flats for a couple months until I swap to Pilot Super Sports or Aggressive Street/Track wheelset with Cup 2’s. Loss of grip in the twisties on that greasy road; vaporized my confidence from earlier in the day. Especially since that elevation demanding a lot more usage of 2nd gear; and 240+ ft-lbs @ Wheels was too much for my factory setup.
If there was runoff on that road, I would have let the faster cars pass, but that option sadly wasn’t available 😐
