New owner here

Just picked up a '06 Cooper S. Needs some love. Had a noisy belt tensioner when I looked at it. Turns out the damper wasn't even attached and laying on top of the crank pulley. Replaced it and the idler but I'm still hearing noises. I'm thinking either a lower mileage or rebuilt supercharger is going to be needed soon.

I've replaced the seized power steering cooling fan but I think I also need the low speed cooling fan resistor because the fans only run with the AC on. There's also a clunking in the back which I think may be the aftermarket lower control arms. The stereo is the Harmon Kardon with the non working amp so that has to be addressed as well. It had heated seats but the PO swapped them out for newer seats that are in great shape but don't have heat. I've changed the oil and am working on refreshing the power steering fluid which was reddish colored when I pumped out the reservoir. I've pumped it out and refilled it twice so far and am getting closer to the proper color. The transmission fluid is next on the list.
Once I get the mechanical stuff sorted out I'll address the stereo and seat heat issues.

It's not all bad. It drives nice and looks clean. It's just had some neglect.

Welcome to NAM. How many miles? Any pictures?

If your fan is working when the AC is on it should not be the resistor but rather one of the relays. The fan works on AC pressure as well as coolant temperature.

Well looks like I'll be checking for a bad relay then.

It's got 161k miles on it which is a bit high. We'll see how it goes.

I'll work on getting some pics up as soon as I figure out how that works here.

Welcome to NAM! If you press the little yellow icon with the mountain and moon to the right of the earth with the chain, you can drag and drop an image from your computer into there or upload directly from somewhere on your computer. Post up some pics and I am here if you ever need anything!

Welcome looks great and a not very common royal grey color. Sounds like the repairs you have done are the normal maint.

Hi and welcome to NAM.
The 06 in my opinion is the best year for the BMW Minis. I am a gen 1 kinda guy and have an 06 MCS JCW model, witch is my daily driver.
Congrats on your find. There is much information to glean here, to get your 06 in great order.
