Went out looking for a "winter car" for the wife, and came back with my first MINI! Funny how that happens eh?
It was an impulse-buy, and a car with 130k miles, but it looks great - no rust, drives nice, and was too good of
a deal to pass up! (Or so I thought.) And of course it's just so cool...
Can't wait to cruise around next spring...or maybe a few more warm days this fall!
Great! Welcome! My first MINI was an '05 'vert S auto. Nice car that was my daily for five years. Sold it stupidly, now have another. Hope you enjoy it (and that it has a nice warm home for the winter up ther).
...and use a dry lube, not something that will attract and hold dust...and always remember, topless motoring on the roads less traveled is motoring at its best.

What kind of lubrication should I use for the top? A spray-type?
No problems yet - just drove it a couple ties so far, but the first drive home was 80+ miles.
I think/thought that it was a deal too good to pass up, but I see a few people on some of the sites doing
pretty well also. With 130K, what are the main things I should do, any maintenance items? I'd like to be proactive...

I'd like to be proactive...[/QUOTE]Liquid Wrench dry lube for one, there are others too, hit the scissor joints once in a while to keep them from squeaking.
Just check all the fluids on a regular basis weekly or so and keep a close eye on normal wear items. Take good care of the canvas. The best products are either 303 or Ragg Topp, and don't run the top down wet and leave it, otherwise you can grow a crop of mold.
The schedule I follow follows:
Lube/oil/filter and rotate tires every 5K
Brake Fluid every 20K
Coolant every 30K
PCV vent valve every 30K
PS Fluid flush every 30K
Fuel Filter Change every 50K
Plugs every 40K
Serpentine belt every 40K
BG-44K every 6 mo.
