Hello From NY

Good Evening all,

I am now a new owner of a 2005 Mini Cooper S. I have coils, Helix 17% Pully, tinted tails and loving every minute of it. Too bad it snowed here in NY, so I can't really test it out. Side streets I feel like I am an extra in Initial D.

I will post some pics later, but I wanted to introduce myself. I hope all is well on everyone else's end, and I look forward to being apart of this forum!

I stay on Long Island and here is one from this morning. Man so cold!

I love those viper stripes!

Thank you! How are you liking the 17% Pully? This came with one, but I want to make sure and get new plugs to be safe. They said go with the "colder" ones? I am new to the Mini-game. Trying to learn as much as I can. Fun car so far and I am happy with my choice. My girlfriend hopes this will become my daily and keep it mod light. LoL

Honestly, I'm not completely happy with the pulley. My wife has a fully stock R53 and I actually prefer driving hers, acceleration and shifts just seem so much smoother. I'll probably be going back to the stock pulley sometime in the next couple months. I know, however, that there's plenty of other people here who are completely happy with their pulley mod.

Interesting. I can understand the difference in shifts. I test drove a stock one and it was smoother in my opinion. Though, the one I brought seems more peppier than the stock. Which Pulley did you invest in? I have the Helix model.

I have an Alta. It definitely is noticeably peppier, there's no doubt about that, I just miss that smooth feel. I know it sounds weird since it's almost everyone's favorite mod, but when my car sits unused while I drive my wife's, then it's time to make my car fun to drive again.

LoL , hey two in the family is always good. My girlfriend is more into Vdubs. She lets me have my BMW hobby. I picked up an e36 this past summer and I got lazy and never raised it up. So, I kinda brought what she wanted for the next few months and put into her head I couldn't drive the bimmer in the winter. Then I got the Mini, and she just narrowed her eyes. Her car continues to be the "family" car.

My wife was a VWer..................until she drove my MINI.

The pulley wouldn't make the car any less smooth, sounds like the xtra boost is just amplifying an existing issue.

I thought that could be that case, myself, but I've driven a couple other reduced pulley MINI's that feel pretty much the same as mine.

Increase in boost should have no effect on powerband smoothness, typical issues are ignition or tired bypass valves.

Welcome, and waves from Canada's capital!

Welcome aboard fellow R53 owner. I love mine and we have full maintenance and performance upgrade guides on our website, so please check them out and sign up for NAM discounts there. Check out the Sprint Booster to end throttle lag, too.

Drive Hard. Drive Safe. Keep Grinning.
