New to site and MINI's & looking for answers
I have a 2012 coupe s coupe. I have added a cai and a borla s-type exhaust. I was wondering if I should install forge re-circ valve or intercooler for my next bolt on part. I am concerned with the failure issues with the factory re-circ valve and also looking for mild power increase. I have the n-18 engine with manual trans 41k miles.

Save your $$ on the recirc valve, but a good intercooler will help performance--especially in hot weather. We're about to run a big intro discount on our latest intercooler (version 3 for Gen 2 cars!). We have a big day of testing tomorrow on a GP2. Data to follow. Welcome!

Hello and welcome to NAM! I do enjoy those valves from Forge. Great product and a good bolt on to do. We sell the Forge Motorsport Front Mount Intercooler Kit, which is an awesome product as well. Can check out our parts catalog here for some additional parts upgrades. Happy modding!

Welcome to the MINIacs!
Post some photos... Lots of fun roads in WV, I'm sure you face will be sore from the permanent smile that will stuck on it. Motor on! |
My '11 is at 77,000 miles. Had the jb+ for about a year, ditched that for a manic tune a year ago. No problems with my recirc valve yet. I went with a downpipe, spark plugs, intake, and intercooler prior to the manic tune. I also got an AFR gauge when I get the downpipe.

Well James there are awesome roads after they fix winter pot holes. Fresh asphalt, warm day, and full tank of fuel......that is a good day. I have pics in my profile of the mods i have started so far. What about the oem re-circ valve failure that I have read about, is it a issue on the newer gen 2 or did they fix the problem.

or buy one of these and have enough money left over for a manic Tune

The DV thing is kind of... I know the VW community back in the day was all about them, but I haven't seen too much out of dorking around with it. The Forge DVs look nice enough, I suppose, but I wouldn't expect big gains or a radical improvement over just replacing the a worn-in stock one with a fresh OEM unit. I'm not aware of stock failures being particularly common or catastrophic. |

We are datalogging today, street and dyno, so that we have test results to show with our product. BTW, we're also testing the stock intercooler as well as another aftermarket brand of cooler.
