New to the forum, new to MINI's
 

Always liked the new Mini since it was introduced in the early 2000's. Always been a VW person though. After a couple MkII Golfs and an EK Civic that was purchased out of desperation, I got sick of paying cash for cars that end up falling apart, so I took the plunge and bought a newish car with reasonably low miles. I present my brand spanking used '07 MCS with the JCW package and 56k on the clock:

I must say I've been very pleased with my purchase so far.

Welcome and congrats on your new MINI. I was also a VW owner, and for some 15 years I was very happy with my Passats. My 2012 purchase was the direct opposite. I was very disappointed in their new products. So, I ordered a MINI Roadster, and I'm looking forward to driving something fun again.

Thanks guys. I must say I'm thoroughly enjoying it so far. Only thing I'd prefer is if it didn't have a sunroof. Other than that, top notch. :thumbsup:

Exceeeept for a slight issue with the aftermarket wheels. They very clearly appear to be Rota RB's, although 2 of the center caps have ASA logos... Anyway, it seems that either there's a problem with the TPMS sensors or they're missing altogether because the warning light in the center of my tach is constantly displaying the flat tire icon.

Are the factory sensors compatible with aftermarket wheels? Are there universal sensors available? Some sort of TPMS emulator? I've noticed there's even an entire thread dedicated to the RB's, so this has to have come up before. I'm going to do some research but if anyone sees this and has a solution for me it would be much appreciated as I'd rather use that readout for the digital speedo or avg. MPG. Thanks in advance.

Note: The TPMS light in the center cluster (speedo/radio) isn't on, just the display inside the tachometer. Weird?

The RB's CAN accept factory TPMS hardware. If I were to guess, I'd say your wheels don't have sensors in them.

Sorry, there's no emulator, but we do sell sensors at a good amount less than the dealership...HERE.

Yep, I did the switch too.......had my VW for 13 yrs & loved it but have to be just a bit different than everybody else & oh yea, cool :cool: So far, I am super pleased with my purchase. :grin:
