Hello from Wisconsin

Hi all. Joe here, I live in Wisconsin and my wife and I are proud owners of a 2011 Mini Cooper S Countryman. This is our first Mini, we got it in July of 2011 and since have fallen in love with everything Mini.

Recently I have had a great interest in classic Mini's. I've spent countless hours reading about the history of the Mini, internet searches and watching YouTube videos. I guess I've become a little obsessed :).

My plan is to purchase a Classic in the near future so I've done some searching on the web and as far as I can tell there is only one for sale in the whole state of Wisconsin. This search may be a little harder than I thought.

Well, thanks for having me! This looks like a great site with tons of info. I look forward to gaining a wealth of knowledge.

Joe

What part of Wisconsin are you in? I just purchased my MINI in November, and recently joined the Milwaukee MINI club, but I'm pretty sure there's one in Madison too. You should join! The first Milwaukee MINI club meeting is in the beginning of March.

I'm in Manitowoc, nice to meet you. I found Milwaukee Minis on Mini Mania and emailed my info to them on Friday. I haven't got a response from them yet. We plan to go to the show in Sussex on Fathers Day. Do you have a classic Mini?

Welcome aboard! It's nice to see another Wisconsinite with a MINI! 2014 is going to be a heck of a year with the big MINI gathering. Will we be seeing you for the holiday get together in early March?

Sadly, I don't have a classic MINI. Living in a high-rise apartment in the middle of downtown Milwaukee doesn't give me the luxury of a garage to get one to re-build, though it is a goal shortly after buying a house.

I e-mailed Milwaukee MINIs just before a weekend myself, and the organizer took a few days to get back to me, but rest assured, she certainly will. If you sent her a pic, she'll post it to the FB page and give you a brief introduction to the group.

Thank you, good to me you. As far as I know I'm not a member yet but hopefully I can make it there in March. The Mini Meet sounds awesome. Is that an annual show in the U.S.?

That's really cool, sounds like a great club!

Hi and welcome. Do you do much DIY or give it to the stealer?

It's not an annual event but a rather large event that travels through the US(someone correct me if I'm wrong) so I expect the turn out to be MASSIVE. I'm hoping vendors come by as well since my schedule makes going to the Dragon unlikely for a few years still :(

Thank you. Our Countryman is still under warranty so we have it serviced at the dealer. When I get a classic I will do the work myself. I've enjoyed working on cars since high school and restoring vintage Volkswagen's the past few years.

Awesome. It sounds like they have some really cool things planned throughout Milwaukee. Can't wait!

There's a MINI club in Madison? Please send me the link. I want to touch base with others about things I want to do with my R60 and local support.

thanks

Hi and welcome to the NAM family, Joe!
Congrats on your Mini enthusiasm. Don't let state boarders control you finding and buying a Classic Mini! Mini Mania in California specializes in them and are a great resource.
You will find leads all over the states on decent classics. Just bring your wallet and maybe some grease too! LOL
I have gone to a few Mini Mania get to-gethers and have seen many classics there. They usually can find the tough parts to find also.
