Deliveries on the East Coast: dock strike delayed at least 30 days
There was just an announcement that longshoremen working the Eastern US coast docks have extended their current agreement for 30 days. That's good news for folks waiting for MINI deliveries.
There have also been reports that if the longshoremen fail to reach a settlement, their strike might only extend to loading and offloading containers; that's what the impasse is focused on. That means that cars coming into a port like Baltimore will be offloaded. I'm not sure about parts deliveries; they may be in the containers.
Let's all hope--for reasons extending beyond our MINI interests--that the parties are able to reach agreement in the coming month.
