New member R53 owner
Hello all! Glad to be a part of the Mini nation! Central NJ based.
Just bought a 2006 R53 built 10/06. I am the 3rd owner. The 2 previous owners were maticulous about maint and provided a books worth of documentation! (over $7000 in dealer receipts alone!)
Found out there are some changes during this model year.
It seemed to have a bearing whine in the rear, and when I went to replace it, I found out I ordered the incorrect bearing.
Anyway, got that straigtened out, but it makes me wonder how many other 'mid-year' differences I will run in to.
Thoughts?
I am an ASE Master Technician with over 20 years in the field with some BMW experience. So I hope to be able to contribute.
Changed careers to IT and now have a 65 mile round trip! Needed a car with decent mileage that I would enjoy driving.

Welcome to NAM and the world of MINIs. You have a fine vintage there, perhaps one of the best MINIs made. If you haven't done so already, check out the First Gen section of the forums for all things R53.

Thanks folks. I am enjoying the heck out of driving this little go-kart!
Not sure even which options are in it, or what all the buttons and switches do, but I'm learning quick.
miles, that looks like quite the project!
As I have transplanted many an engine, (V8's in S10's, big block 460's in fox body mustangs, the usual gearhead stuff....) my advise would be to set realistic goals, and be patient.
The best way to learn is to do.
