2007 Mini won't start

Our 2007 Mini Cooper S just stopped starting today. The dealership telephonically told me to jump the car. I had someone do this but it still would not start. Called the dealer back and talked to a mechanic. He said the battery is original but needs to be replaced due to it's age. That is all that should be needed.

I had the battery replaced with a new one. Still could not get the mini to start. I have now seen how the clutch has a switch that may not be working well and can be fixed with a zip tie. I will give this a shot tomorrow before having the car towed 300 miles to be fixed.

Do you have power to all electronics? Is the starter turning? Keep us updated

This exact same thing happened to my 2007 Mini right after I got it 2 weeks ago. I thought it was a battery too, and got that switched out. That did not help it. Then I finally got it to a Mini dealership to diagnose and they said it had an electrical short in the starter. They put a new starter in it and it is good as new! Is it cranking over at all? Slowly?

OK I cannot believe how simple the fix was. 142 dollars for a battery and install in a parking lot when all that was needed took a piece of packing tape to fix. The sensor on the cluthch piston was off. I taped it back in place and good to go. It started right up. I have since put a zip tie on it as well to make sure it stays put.
