Can't stand the wait...how do you handle it?

I guess I should be patient by now. I've waited about 11 years to buy a Mini and I'm finally taking the plunge.

I'm ordering my new MCS Memorial day weekend. I had debated buying something off the lot, but I figured that I have lusted long for an MCS so I might as well have it perfect. I'm ordering:

'11 MCS
CR/B
Manual
Heated seats
JCW package (the appearance package)
Premium
Xenon w/white turn signals
Black stripes
USB/Bluetooth

Dealer add ons:

Flip top arm rest (I don't want the flimsy sliding one) $350
Trading the runflats for Continental ContiExtreme DWS in 215/45 (they'll charge me tire rack prices for the tires)
Tinted windows $250
Tinted Sunroof $150
Color matched vinyl headlight rings $100

I know I can do the dealer add ons for cheaper than the dealer, but they will warranty all of the parts and labor for the original Mini warranty. And besides, I just want to pick up the car with it all done.

How do you all stand the wait? So I figure if I order it Memorial day weekend, I should have it around the end of July?

Congrats.

I ordered my Clubman on March 2. And got it on April 26. During that time, I ate a lot of       .

My friends all thought I was crazy during that time.

Congrats.
I'm waiting myself and I know it's painful.
Just keep busy and do more research on NAM, so when the car arrives you'll know what you need and how to go about it.

Omg going berserk! Can't take it! By them allowing millions of possibilities, who would buy one off the lot? Then, knowing this, why don't they make it a mote streamlined and quick ordering process?? I mean 2-3 months is ridiculous!

I found a new one on the lot that had everything I wanted and more.

I drove it home the same day!

Nyeah!

If I found one how I wanted it exactly within 500 miles, I would have drove it off the lot to.

I can understand. I was searching inventories in a 300 mile radius. I found a car on a boat and going to a dealer 67 miles away. Put down my deposit on the car last Thursday and have been waiting for the car to go from the VDC to Hartford CT ever since. This is killing me as I can't wait for it to get to the dealer!

When all else fails, stand on your head in the corner and stack BBs. LOL

When I found out the wait might end up being 10-12 weeks on my Countryman, I went out and bought one off the lot at a different dealer.

So, um, maybe I'm not the best person to ask about how to deal with waiting.

After seeing how they get treated on the test drives I wouldn't want one from the lot.

I think you are confusing rental cars with cars used for test drives.

They don't drive every car on the lot! They have a couple of each model for customer test drives.

My car had six miles on it, when I bought it off the lot.

Maybe where I test drove the car was an exception. They couldn't get either of their "test drive" cars to start....dead batteries. We drove another MINI from the lot to a remote location where they had one very similar to the one I wanted. We test drove that poor MINI for 2 hours. The salesperson was a twenty something kid and he really took that car to it's limits.
