Who's on the Medea?

Sir Winston is currently on board the Medea (from the WW shipping line). Medea left Southampton yesterday and is scheduled to arrive in Port Hueneme, California on June 16. I'm wondering who his cruise buddies are...does anyone else out there have a baby on the Medea?

zoedragon May 28, 2010 08:17 AM

I do! I do! *jumping and waving* Shipmates! Maybe they're playing shuffleboard together, hehe.

SirWinston 2010 May 28, 2010 02:23 PM

Woohoo!! Dinner at the captain's table tonight!

SirWinston 2010 Jun 7, 2010 03:30 PM

Sir Winston - and 428 of his MINI buddies on board the Medea - are currently anchored outside of Panama...looks like they'll go through the locks tomorrow.
Zoedragon/hsautocrosser/anyone else on board: here's a link to the Panama webcams:

Happy Sailing!

Sweeet! Thanks for the update SirWinston! I was actually wondering where in the ocean it was now. Sailwx.info hasn't updated their position since they left the English Channel.

SirWinston 2010 Jun 7, 2010 07:10 PM

I think vesseltracker.com (which is what I've been checking obsessively haha) is a little more up to date/accurate than sailwx...Regardless of what tracking site you use though, it appears that there is a rather large dead zone in the North Atlantic where the AIS system doesn't show any info for the vehicle carriers, at least not on public websites, because Medea hasn't been showing up on any sites that I've seen from about the 27th until today.

SirWinston 2010 Jun 8, 2010 07:34 PM

As it happens, Medea didn't go through the Miraflores locks in Panama today. There is apparently a backlog in the canal so she has been rescheduled for tomorrow; I believe at 11:00 a.m Panama time/9:00 a.m. Pacific time.

zoedragon Jun 9, 2010 09:35 AM

Delayed? I know what happened... some MINIs went out to explore Panama, got drunk and lost, and now there's a search party out looking for them. ;)

SirWinston 2010 Jun 9, 2010 11:14 AM

Woohoo too many pina coladas on the Lido deck haha...
I saw Medea go through the Gatun locks this morning around 6:45 a.m.; she just went past the Centennial Bridge webcam a few minutes ago. So the Miraflores locks are next; I don't know how long it takes to get there from the bridge but I'm guessing at least an hour.

hsautocrosser Jun 9, 2010 11:25 AM

I believe the Medea is third in line for the Miraflores locks, perhaps one half hour away.

hsautocrosser Jun 9, 2010 12:28 PM

The Media is on camera.

SirWinston 2010 Jun 9, 2010 12:30 PM

yay there she is!!

zoedragon Jun 9, 2010 12:54 PM

Oops I almost missed it! Hooray she's going (or gone) through! Look at all the waving MINIs! Okay I made that up, but you can picture it, can't you?

SirWinston 2010 Jun 9, 2010 12:57 PM

they are all indeed waving and honking their horns as they go through

hsautocrosser Jun 9, 2010 01:18 PM

She's still on the Miraflores hi res camera for a few more minutes.

SirWinston 2010 Jun 14, 2010 07:03 AM

vesseltracker.com showed the Medea off the coast of Manzanillo, Mexico earlier today....

zoedragon Jun 14, 2010 08:28 AM

I can almost smell them now! Oh that might be the freeway, hehe. Very exciting!

SirWinston 2010 Jun 16, 2010 05:26 PM

Hey guys, just spotted Medea about 75 miles southwest of Ensenada...(marinetraffic.com and vesseltracker.com) hopefully they'll pick up some fish tacos on the way lol. The WW office in Port Hueneme said she'll be in around 7 am tomorrow...I'm planning to go to the port to watch her come in so I'll post some pics when I get back.

hsautocrosser Jun 16, 2010 06:02 PM

I don't suppose we could get you to take pics of our MINIs?

SirWinston 2010 Jun 16, 2010 06:07 PM

I will take pics of as many laser blue and BRG MINIs as I can before port security escorts me off the premises

zoedragon Jun 17, 2010 08:16 AM

LOL Awesome SirWinston! I'm sure the MINIs will pose for you. They're such photogenic hams. :)

hsautocrosser Jun 18, 2010 08:55 AM

Discharged 6-18 02:36.

I'm wondering if we need a bail fund for Sir Winston's owner?

zoedragon Jun 18, 2010 09:31 AM

I wonder if he got picked up for loitering?
Hey mine was discharged the same time yours was! Off to the VDC! I wonder if my MINI picked up some things from Panama that need to be declared at customs, hehe. Some maracas or colorful blankets would be nice.

brettno1 Jun 18, 2010 10:47 AM

Just in case you're interested, this is a previous thread that shows what happens at the VDC.

zoedragon Jun 18, 2010 10:52 AM

Thanks for the link! I actually read that thread long ago, very interesting stuff! I hope mine doesn't need any crush damage repaired! :eek2: I like to think my MINI had more sense than to party too hard and knock itself out falling against a bulkhead. ;)
