Tracking Lemons: when a CarFax is incomplete
Am on the hunt for CPO or Warrantied S Conv. and found one at
a newish Honda dealer after going there from largest Mini dealer
in southwest Ohio. CarFax stated two owners; that must have meant
Individuals, because the very same Mini dealer showed as previous
owner. Plus the two individuals and current, Honda dealer. Why would
Mini dealer auction, sell or wholesale a 2005 Mini Cooper S black Conv.
with manual, trick low-profile wheels and 71,000 miles to another (non-Mini)
dealer????

Generally, dealers do not sell modified products. A mini that was modified with rims would never be sold on the lot so they wholesaled it and that person drive it to honda who bought it.
It also can be as simple as they already had the same color, though mods, mileage seems to be off for a new car dealer.

Lemons: When a CarFax is Incomplete
CarFax showed previous Owner as Mini of Cincinnati, not an
individual, HRM. I am certain there is something else occuring
here: a co-worker did a CarFax a few years ago (he related this
story to me yesterday) which had nothing bad to say about his POS
Chevy S-10. When he attempted to trade it later on, a Dealer
ran a CarFax and came up with accidents (yes, plural).

Dealers generally don't title a car. Why you may ask? because they don't have to. They have dealer plates and fleet insurance, so why bother with a title? I have no idea about car fax nor do I care. Maybe someone who doesn't know about cars needs the service, but I don't. It is whatever it is. I don't care if 20 people owned it, just the state of the vehicle and the car will tell me all I need to know.

I know my MINI dealership doesn't keep every car that is returned off lease and does wholesale many of them.
I believe the MINI dealership would show up as an owner if they were using it as a loaner.
edited to add - just realized that last bit of info is totally useless for you since dealers usually only use cars w Auto for loaners.
