Does your MA call you if you don't call first?

My MA said she'd call at "the halfway point" of the waiting period, which would have been (pessimistically) the 18th of July. No word. Now that the car has landed on U.S. soil, it's delivery is imminent, but still no word.

Those of you who aren't calling your MA incessantly for tracking status, does your MA call you on his or her own volition? Maybe mine is just too busy raking in the sales.

Not needy - just curious.

AZdevil Jul 29, 2008 11:45 AM

Mine has not called me at all throughout the entire process! My car is due to hit US soil today or tomorrow and not a peep!

NashvilleMiniStan Jul 29, 2008 11:47 AM

Out of site, out of mind. They are sales people. Once you purchase it time to move to the next one.

Scoopmama Jul 29, 2008 11:50 AM

Well, also for your 1 car you've purchased, they might have 15 or so that they have to prep that month and get out to other new owners. Usually as the cars come in, they will call people.

I'd call them, if you are curious. I found that they are very happy to tell you what they know, but it is a case of the squeaky wheel. . .

After order is placed with the factory I dont call clients until the car hits stateside to double check dealer installed options.

The go where the money is. You are where the money was.

Pretzel Logic Jul 29, 2008 01:56 PM

My MA said he would be in touch periodically to keep me updated, but as my car is due in the US in a few days, he has not contacted me aside from the time I contacted him first.

I'm not surprised, to be honest. I'm sure they will call once the car is ready...

I was fortunate enough to have the coolest MA on the planet (Neil from Moritz), as many on this board will attest to. If he didn't hear from ME for a week, he'd shoot me an email or call me just to say hey/what's up! As the delivery date neared, he called or emailed pretty much every day. Since I've taken delivery, we still keep in touch.

fitbull Jul 29, 2008 02:35 PM

Ive only recieved calls back from voicemails Ive left...

and of course the prewritten, generic letters and emails from the dealership.

bahollings Jul 30, 2008 09:30 AM

at least you got "prewritten, generic letters and emails" I've gotten zip, nada, nothing and my MCCs is suppose to be arriving at the port today.

AZdevil Jul 30, 2008 09:46 AM

^ Same here. We must have the same MA!

tennesseemini Jul 30, 2008 11:37 AM

mslatter, I had to call my MA to get the status of my car. I think it would be a good idea for you to call yours and find out what she knows about your Mini.
Have you checked the owner's lounge at miniusa.com?

Oh, yeah, I've tracked it the whole way via askmini and ww shipping. I didn't need to call my MA, other than to work up financing and trade-in. But she promised she'd call! I got jilted!

LaserSpeeder Jul 30, 2008 02:12 PM

Great signature!

tennesseemini Jul 30, 2008 03:10 PM

mslatter, That is sad. I ordered on 7/5, completed 7/18, and put on board ship 7/25. My mini is on it's way to Charleston now.

I would definitely call my MA and find out what's up.

denstep57 Jul 30, 2008 10:04 PM

Haven't felt the need to call. Probably should just to "touch bases", but have found what I need to know here, or the hotline, or the website.

Luv this forum, by the way.

RaceTripper Jul 31, 2008 05:09 AM

I'm busy. I don't need my MA calling me unless she has something meaningful to tell me. I can find out what I want to know by other (and often more accurate) means.

I agree. My MA sent me emails periodically through the process. But in all cases, I was already aware of the information he sent me. I probably knew within the hour of when it said my car was loaded on the ship, but I guess it was nice to know he cared.

I'll echo what Peaches wrote Neil @ Moritz in Arlington Texas has given me updates all along. At times calls just to chat for a minute or two.

rockridge Jul 31, 2008 01:02 PM

I don't recall my MA ever calling me, unless I left a message at his desk.

jsargevt Jul 31, 2008 05:08 PM

Yeah...my MA doesn't call unless I call first. I guess they'll call me when it shows up at the dealership. Who knows when that is since it was supposed to arrive on Monday and nobody can tell me where it is or what is going on.

I wouldn't sound so frustrated if I was not leaving town for a long weekend on Wednesday and the Mini was supposed to be coming with.....but them's the breaks I guess.

Alas.

jgarner53 Jul 31, 2008 05:41 PM

I haven't heard a peep out of my MA. The MA I dealt with before my order happened to be off the day my husband and I went in to order, so another MA took the order, but we didn't like him at all. So I'm just basically pretending that the yucky MA was not the one who took my order and working with (I had some more questions shortly after ordering) the cool MA. But nothing out of anybody at the dealer (except the receptionist, or whoever she is called me once or twice after we'd placed an order, wondering if we were still interested in a MINI)

warev Aug 1, 2008 12:18 AM

never had a phone call, don't really want or need a phone call. Only prewritten letters and emails - works for me - rather have no phone calls.

MiniBoz Aug 5, 2008 04:57 PM

Just Want A Call Back to Order One!

I have exchanged emails with the Sales Manager about financing and options. I then emailed Sunday that I was ready to order, let's go to the next step. Haven't back since, so I called the dealership this after work today and got a voice mail for one of the MAs. Still haven't heard back.

They must be really busy! I wouldn't mind an occassional call once I order - to me that means that I come back when I am ready to get another Mini.

tomoarranmore Aug 5, 2008 06:26 PM

My MA was OK

My MA didn't initiate many calls, but was very good about answering questions when I called, and returning my calls if I left him a voice mail. He handled a change in my order with no problem. He also gave me my production number before I left the dealership. He did call to let me know that the car was going to be arriving at the dealership, (Classic MINI in Mentor, OH), and I could pick it up in two days. (Tomorrow 8/06)
